So who was the best of these?

I've just been checking out some heavyweight fights today and have been looking at fights from the 80's and 90's. It seemed really exciting with lots of good fighters.

So who was the best out of these 8 that stood out for me and how would they have fared against todays title holders.

    Larry Holmes
    Michael Spinks
    Mike Tyson
    Buster Douglas
    Evander Holyfield

The 8 you mentioned could be the top 8 in the HW division today

They looked pretty good to me from what little I know, haven't seen a lot of the Klitschko brothers and am going to check them out, but they are the best right now (yes?)

Wlad is the best right now. Vitali has been out of the game for awhile.

Wlad would be able to beat some of those guys on that list because of his size, but with the exception of Buster Douglass they were all better fighters.

Larry Holmes is the best on that list to me. Great jab, very good speed and power, could fight on the inside and the outside, defended his title 20 times second only to Joe Louis, 48-0 before he lost in a disputed decision.

It's a shame the division he ruled in wasn't that great and that he never unified the titles.

I don't like Holmes and wanted to vote for Lennox, but Larry was the best on this list.

I'd say Holmes and Lewis are a class above the rest, but I'd give the edge to Holmes because he just couldn't lose in his prime. Even on his off nights he still won.

Lennox, Holmes, Tyson, Holyfield and Bowe would be the #1 Hw quite easily. Moorer would lose to Wlad and struggle with the strength of Peter.

                  As for Douglas,

Glad to see Larry Holmes getting the respect he rightfully deserves. One of the best jabs if not the best jab boxing has ever seen.
