It was a horrible stoppage because of when it came. I'm sorry but you just can't stop a fight with two seconds left when the fighter is up on his feet.
Meldrick Taylor was STOPPED

You have no refereeing experience, as a referee you're not supposed to be looking at your stop watch to see how much time if left. That's the job of the time keepere which is why there are two different jobs.Comment

Do you have any refereeing experience, if you don't then you should stop typing.Comment

You're 100% right, but I'm not going to waste my time making the same arguments over and over again. Reading that Steele was considering stopping the fight starting in the 10th round further convinces me how dishonest he is.Comment

Dude. They **** on the ring when ten seconds are left. If the ref is THAT deaf he needs to retire. Kind of like Chavez appologists need to do. It's no secret Steele was Don King's personal referee for a reason.

Chavez won that fight hands down. People allow their emotions to get in the way when they criticize the outcome. They see Taylor in his current state and feel bad for him because he was close to victory. Alot of people have said that Taylor "deserved" to win because he was ahead on the scorecards and there were seconds left but how do you deserve a win if you get knocked senseless to the point that you are unable to respond BEFORE the clock has officially run down. You lose period because that's the name of the game. Try applying that logic to any other sport, if a basketball team is leading the game throughout but the opposing team mounts a comeback and makes a three pointer to take the lead with seconds left... they win! There is no, they "deserve" a win about it. A knockout is a knockout regardless of whether it occurs in the first round with 2 seconds left or the last round with 2 seconds left. Taylor was unable to respond, Steele made the appropriate call, there was time left on the clock, Chavez wins.Comment

I have a feeling most of the people that are so strongly opposed to the outcome were the ones betting on Taylor.Comment
