Effective aggressiveness is one of the things they are supposed to look at.

Right, ring generalship is a key to deciding a round but I dont put huge stock into that. This is boxing so rounds are won on punching so ring gen only plays in when the round is a draw imo. I think boxing is all about landing clean, crisp, powerfull shots. If you throw 100 punches and only land a few clean and most get dodged compared to a guy throwing about 40 but landing 10 good shots I am giving it to the man that is landing more and harder.

The more powerful shots were by Margs clearly. You just dont understand that a left hook to the body is better than a straight right hand. Now the straight right is flashier and looks better because it lands on the face. But I'll give you 3 straight rights to my 1 left hook to the body. And I guarantee that I win every time. Margs was landing the Harder more Powerful shots. Cotto punches had no real knockout power behind them because his feet werent set. How can you say Cotto was landing the more powerful shots when his feet were either A) Moving and off balance or B) squared up? By your theory Margs was winning.

But when you turn your entire body away from your opponent and cover up the whole side of your face with your arm, while not looking at the other fighter, you are running.
I truley believe cotto landed harder punches in that fight. its just that marg has an iron chin and cotto can't take punishment nearly as well as margarito.

yes the judges dont watch the fight with lampley nuthuggin commentary
i think they took into account the damage margarito was doing on cotto face and how cotto punches werent even affecting margarito
therefore even if margarito landed less they believed it was the harder punch and they were right

I am going to rewatch the fight strickly because I was at the MGM about 20 rows up but what I seen was Margs head getting rocked by Cottos punch. I just think it looks like Cotto didnt have power because Margos chin is that damn good. Cotto is a very good puncher and landed bombs, margs chin is just good. To me Marg didnt land many good shots to the head. He busted up his nose good in the 6th or whatever and worked the body. Marg hurt Cotto more but its not about pain, its about boxing and cotto did just that.

alot of cotto's punches had knockout power behind them. I don't think cotto has ever landed more cleaner power punches with any other fighter before. Margarito is just so impossible to knockout. any other fighter would've been laying on the canvas by alot of cotto's punches.

HOW? He was moving and never stopped long enough to get good leverage and get his feet set. His punches were mostly when he was moving (his feet were moving so no real power) or squared up against the ropes. I say at least 70-80% of Cottos punches fall into this category.

Cotto was careing more about speed ad accuracy than power. How can you have KO power in your punches when your feet are moving or squared up?

I totally agree with kswizzy. I thought Cotto landed more powerful shots and the y woulda ko'd a lot of guys. Margarito just has a great chin.
