    Margarito-Cotto Judges Scoring

    Cotto-Margarito
    Dave Moretti 95-95
    Jerry Roth 94-96
    Glen Hamada 94-96

2 of the Judges had Margarito winning 6 out of the first 10 rounds and 1 judge had it tied 5-5. This does not of course include the 2 knock downs that were in the 11th round.

Personally, I had Cotto winning 6-4 in the first 10. what do you guys think?

remember, I have nothing against margarito and I'm not a bigger fan of one or the other. I was truley happy for margarito winning this great fight.

I thought the judges were way off base and that is what I was afraid of. They were rewarding the man that was throwing punches but not landing them. Cotto was landing more and landing crisper and heavier punches. I had it as a draw but I felt it could of been 6/4 Cotto up. I gave Margarito a round that could of easily went to Cotto. The point is refs really cant judge a fight, just because you throw a lot if the punches are missing or blocked that shouldnt mean anything.

Margarito fought his fight and made Cotto have to try and use different gameplans. To me that shows that Cotto had to adjust while Margs didnt. Meaning the fight was controlled and being won by Margs.

Well so far I've only watched the fight once and havn't scored it, but I think Cotto was landing far more accurate shots, and even though they didnt hurt Margarito, they were pretty eye-catching. I don't think it's too far fetched that Margy could have won 6 out of the first 10, but it's really all based on how you score, based on clean punching or aggressiveness.

Absolutly not, you give Margarito rounds because he was making Cotto back up and box? Just because you have ring generalship doesnt mean you get rounds. Cotto had won atleast 5 rounds on just landing more cleaner and harder punches. He was rocking that head back a lot during the fight. Marg was missing a lot early. It was 5/5 or 6/4 cotto going into the 11th.

yeah exactly. I gave cotto 6 clear rounds and the other 4 could've gone either way but I chose to give them to margarito cuz I thought he landed more bigger punchers even though I thought cotto was still landing more punches even later in the fight.

margarito was controlling the pace of the fight and landing lots of good body shots than arent as "pretty" looking as face punches but more effective. i had margarito winning 96-94 as well and glad the judges were lookin at more than just the face punches cotto was landing

They were looking at the AMOUNT of punches and how Marg was pressing the action. Thats not how a fight is scored. He was missing a lot and getting hit cleaner.

u all need to stop listening to the hbo biased commentators and watch the fight on mute
its really a sight watching a bloody fighter retreating while the other keeps backing him up against the ropes
i can understand the judges scoring i had it 96-94 for margarito as well

Dont look a the flashiness. Look at all the body punches that Cotto was getting hit with clean. Look at the first round and really count the meaningful body shots Margs hit Cotto with. There were 2-4 right hooks to the sternum that nobody seems to notice. Just watch it on mute. Cotto ran more than boxed. When he did box he looked good. But when you turn your entire body away from your opponent and cover up the whole side of your face with your arm, while not looking at the other fighter, you are running.
