youre right about Trinidad he was probably one of the most likable guys in boxing.... Larry Merchant once said that his smile is as big as Puerto Rico.
Although JCC is one of my favorite fighters, he was not that likeable to the general public. He made a ton of excuses whenever he didnt perform to his liking. He's the kind of fighter that when asked "In the 7th round you seemed hurt by a right hand, how did you survive that and come back to win?" He would say; "I was never hurt, I was in control the whole time" . When he lost, he made excuses, when he won controversially (several of his fights) he denied the possibility that he had really lost the fight.
He was pretty nice in that interview with Margarito last time I saw him after the win, hugged and kissed Tony in the cheek like a son, how is he an ******* to the public?
Every single thing that I have ever heard or read about Tony says that he is a genuinely nice guy who has no attitude and appreciates his fans. Hopefully he has no regard for NSB trolls who are bitter about his success over their heroes.
I respect Cotto for learning english he practices his english daily he used to speak a scratch of english but he wanted to be a cross over star so he took the time to learn.
Morales learns english through his wife who is a teacher and I respect Erik Morales for that he even knows a bit of filipino since he siad he is doing business with san miguel beer.
Barrera and JMM also speaking pretty good english for just learning.
Now Margarito maybe he took to many shots to the head thats why it is harder for him to learn english? or maybe he is like Castro of cuba he knows english but just will not speak it.
I think Arum also said Juan MA is gonna be learning english he is getting him an english teacher so he can have that cross over appeal.
