He was born in the USA, but moved back to Mexico at age 2 I think...so why would he speak English? So what if the majority of his fights are in the USA...there's plenty of people here that can translate for him without worries. He trains in East L.A. for God sakes! That's like 95% Hispanic! Then when he's all finished, he goes back to Tijuana.
I don't think learning English for crossover appeal has been a priority for him. Actually getting a big-name fighter to get in the ring with him so he can get his due respect takes that honor.
Who knows? Maybe if he keeps winning and building up his fanbase we might hear him say some words in English down the line. If not, who cares?!?!? It's not like the fighters you mentioned learned English before they got they're first marquee victory.
