Americas policy on immigrants from communist dictatorships has always been sympathetic, cubans, unlike mexicans, are under that type of doctrine and they are stuck on an island with little to no rights whatsoever. Most of them get here by any means nessecary because they have NO oppurtunities whatsoever on a personal level.
Its the same reason we granted sponsership visas to vietnam, cambodia and laos. Its not a double standard because as ****ed up as the mexican government is, its running and semi-stable. It would be the same if a country like say, brazil had a ****load of immigrants here, there wouldnt be much sympathy because of the same reasons, their government is up and running and is in stable condition. If you understand the historical dynamic of why its like this, you will better understand why mexicans are often underscored as illegal aliens.
