And when was the consensus ever that Margarito was the best welterweight anyway?
Since La Battalia?
Exactly.
Short ****ing memories.
Cotto could have been fought. But he didn't do his part.
AND he'd previously avoided Floyd @ jr. welter.
So you're also conveniently forgetting that Floyd done been avoided by fighters @ those divisions you talking about.
Mosley wanted no part. And Mosley is the best name on Cotto's résumé.

Thats a bad logic. You can't just wake up and hear one day and hear Cotto got KO'd and just assume he was overrated the whole time( Not insinuating thats what happened to you). But you have to look into the fight, Cotto was outboxing Margarito, but he did not have the conditioning to stay in there and trade with a dangerous puncher like Margarito who only gets stronger as the fight progresses. He was moving, throwing all he had, and getting worn out. When it was finished Margarito was just to strong.Comment

To JAB:
When you say Natural what do you mean...? Because if Floyd was a Natural Welther Weight compare with everybody else. wouldnt that be his 2nd divison Also..???
The Welther weight Division
Cotto's: 2nd Division
Margarito's: 2nd Division
Shane Mosley: 3rd Division
Zab Juduh: 2nd Division
Andre Berto: 2nd Divison
Joshua Clottey: 2nd Division
Kermit Cintron: 1st Division
Paul Williams:2nd Division
Carlos Quintana:1st Division
Floyd Mayweather: 4th Division
Now you tell me, out of all the fighters in that Division which fighter is the Most un Natural Fit there?Comment

I forgot,
he isn't.
Floyds a retired bum. Chose to fight weaker fighters. Legacy tarnished.

Because he was supposed to outclass Margarito.
I never thought he would.
I picked Tony.
But Cotto's skills were supposed to be too much for this bum journeyman according to many neutral fans and vast majority of boxing media.
And they were nowhere near enough.
A physically tough and strong fighter in Cotto got brutalized and had nowhere near enough in his defensive armory to nullify that process.

In skill terms he was overhyped.
