he did quit but you have to look at everything else but that! he was in a war with a bigger guy and cotto was giving it all he could and just couldn't get it done! He quit, he accepted defeat and that's that! he knew he wasn't going to go anywhere and the only thing the was going to happen was him getting knocked out cold and there is no point to that. As it is i think bayless would have counted him out i dont think he was going to continue one way or another. Cotto's fans do say and do ****** **** especially this weekend in vegas but we have viva mexico, and commonmang that do the same **** with margarito so it goes both ways. Either way you shouldn't like or hate a fighter based on an internet screen name hyping them up.Comment

I think all fans/haters of each guy has gained respect for the other guy after this fight. Although, some still post some silly things (Yes VIVA
). I think the way the board has shown respect to the fighters is admirable.

The bolded part is some serious truth. Too much pressure on guys these days to keep that "0", like if they lose 1 fight, all of a sudden they're garbage. It must be an enormous mental strain to have that in the back of your mind all the time.Cotto just couldn't handle Margo's size and chin. Cotto's made his best wins come from either bulldozing someone who was vulnerable (Judah) or out boxing someone who was known for being much more technical (Mosley). He couldn't do either to Margarito, since he kept coming forward and took all his best shots.
I'm still a huge Cotto fan, and I hope he comes back better than ever. Plus, the first loss is always the hardest, but it makes fighters better, they dont have the coveted "0" anymore.Comment

Cotto was playing it smart. If he hadn't took a knee the ref would've stopped it.
I was screaming "Take a knee!!" Cause the ref would've stopped it..
Cotto would get up again, but the knee would'nt help out, then got caught flush and took another knee.. He was exausted and took alot of punishment.. Then the corner would step in.
That's not quitting. Its called playing smart.Comment

From The Get-go I Respected Cotto For Taking Such A Fight.
He Gave My Boy A Opportunity To Prove To The World Why He Was Always Avoided!!! Now We All Now Why!
Cotto Is A Tought Cat And Show Me That He Is Willing To Take-On Anyone Even If It Kill Him.Comment

So its not good enough that a man devotes the best years of his life and trains his ass off to get into a ring in front of everyone to fight another man where if he wins the so called fans dont disrespect him because he didnt show all he had , he only gets respect when he has the **** beat out of him , its ironic that the average fan are non achievers that could not take one 10th of what these guys take , they couldnt even handle the training let alone the fight .
I respect every fighter that has stepped into a ring win or lose the mere doing takes an extreme amount of personal conviction and then to rise to the high end of competition is a great achievement in life .
The fan is what I dont respect , the one that never does anything but is so quick to call a fighter a coward , the fan sitting on the couch stuffing his face full of potato chips and telling the world how its done .
Its great that you now respect Cotto for showing he can take his lumps , Im sure if he new he would be so happy that he pleased you .Comment

He's a great young fighter..I also credit him.I was never high on him! I watched him fight for the first time here in fresno i think over 5 years ago! Never really been too impressed with him and always felt he was very beatable. I do feel for his kids and baby mom that were breaking down after the fight! Looking at cotto's bloody face and i will post the gif im talking about only to show you what im talking about. He just had a look of beaten! he had enough when he took a knee the second time you can see he was looking at his corner instantly hinting at them to stop it! I don't blame him he took a beaten but he showed alot of heart and courage saturday night! he brawled alot with margarito and gave it all he had and gave all us fans a fight i'll remember for ever!

looking at this gif makes me want to call truce with the people hating on margarito pre-fight. This gif shows the life beaten out of cotto and you can see quit all over cotto's face.
Thanks cotto for willing to fight anyone! For accepting a tony fight twice! and for going in there and giving us fans a fight for the ages!Comment
