Why does everyone thank god for their victories?

I did not expect to find one of the bests posts certainly this week, possibly this month, on a boxing forum, on the topic of god.

Green k for you my man. Terrific post and essentially my thoughts.

God Bless the world, and god bless the fellow man I just physically hurt, would be more appropriate if anything.

I don't see how God helped with the win to be honest. God didn't tell them how to train for a fight, and he also didn't say what style to go with against the opponent, which is what wins the fight. Also, at no point in the fight would a fighter be thinking about God, they would be thinking about what their opponent is going to do next and how to overcome what they are going to do or what punch they are going to throw next.

I saw a huge bumper sticker the other day on the side of a car that said: God Bless Everyone. No Exceptions! I thought it was funny but true.

Whether you win or lose you thank God, you dont need to thank God just because you win, When you're a Non-believe you can never understand why a fellow man(A believer) thanks God.

i dont know if i believe in god, but i understand why people sometimes turn to a spiritual "figure" when in times of need or prosperity.

I guess I can see that, but that's only if they don't have absolutely anybody in there life to help them out. Which in turn is sad because that means quite a few people have failed them.

TBH when I hear them thank God they thank God for the oppoertunity. SO i think that while they might be thanking God for letting them win as well as putting them in a sitution where they have come from a poor upbringing to living a decent life.
