The 2006 ESPN.com prospect of the year looked tremendous knocking out the average Miki Rodriguez on June 21 to claim the alphabet title that Floyd Mayweather vacated. For his first defense, Berto will be on the Shane Mosley-Ricardo Mayorga HBO undercard against Steve Forbes (33-6), who lost a lopsided decision to Oscar De La Hoya in May but made it an interesting fight.

Forbes is a good fighter, but I think Berto wins. He's younger and faster and Forbes doesn't really have big power. A reason why I think Berto's team gave him this fight. Hoping to see some more of those vicious uppercuts he throws.
