    Typical Floydboy defense.

The proof is in the pudding. People who paid for their tickets, walked out mid-fight because it was a boring/defensive/safety-first display that Floyd put on. He got booed all night and criticized so bad, that he ended up crying his eyes out at the end of the night.

Cotto/Marg was a great fight that everyone enjoyed. Cotto fought hard and strong, but at the end of the night, Margarito's pressure was just too much for Cotto. Although he was the loser, he was applauded by the fans, and even Margarito's fans applauded and gave him his respect.

So although Floyd won his fight, and Cotto lost his, it was Cotto who left with more respect. Marg was a tougher challenge, and Cotto didnt opt to potshot for half the fight. Should i go ahead and compare the punchstats for both fighters in those fights?

      Typical floyd hater response.

In all honesty this arguement is moronic. Floyd never took a beating so his performances are not admirable? This is a joke.

so you're implying that because some boxing fans may have been bored with Floyd vs Baldomir that it wasn't an admirable performance by Floyd? It's not Floyd's fault that Baldo could barely hit him. Floyd followed the rules and got the win. That's perfectly admirable.

Cotto quit. He could have continued on and made it to the 12th round. Instead he gave up. A real warrior would never quit.

Are you serious? My favorite fighter is James Toney.

You have your opinion and I have mine. You dont like Mayweather, that much is obvious. You can believe what you want to believe but in my book you dont get more respect for being a lovable loser. You've been acting real buthurt since Cotto lost and everything always has to involve Mayweather. Dude is done but instead of letting it be you'd rather have nuthugging wars with the ******s on this forum. Nuthuggers shall prosper I guess.

But it was Floyd's fault that he got into the ring with such a low caliber fighter like Baldomir, completely knowing that Baldomir posed no threat to him. When you're pfp #1 in the world, u just dont fight journeymen like Baldomir nomatter WHAT belts he happened to hold at the time.

Belts dont make the fighter. The fighter makes the belt. Anyone can win a belt. Defending it against top opposition is the hard part.

I thought this thread was about performance not choice of opponent?

Exactly. Floyd put on a boring/safety first performance against a journeyman who posed no threat to begin with. Everyone knew Floyd would be too fast for him. Margarito was much more of a threat for Cotto, than Baldomir was too Floyd, yet Cotto put up more of a fight, and actually attempted to hurt and take Margarito out. In the end, Margarito was the victor, but u cant knock Cotto for the effort he gave. Now if Cotto would've pulled a Floyd, and potshotted his way to a victory, he would've been criticized beyond belief on these boards!!!

What exactly is it you think Cotto tried to do? You act like he stood in front of Marg and traded punches all night when in actuality he spent most of the fight throwing punches as he was backing up. Just cause Marg has horrible defense does not mean that Cotto was overly offensive.

You can explain it to them over and over and they're not gonna get it because they don't want to get it. They know what you're saying is true, they themselves would rather buy a ticket for Cotto vs Margo than Mayweather vs bald, but they'll try to have you believe other wise, cause he's black. If he was a white Mayweather running around they'd have ate his ass up a long time ago or ran him out of town, it's a pride thing.

Mayweather is a champ in theory, in reality he's a scared punk with track shoes in the ring instead of boxing boots. That's why he vacates belts, avoids mandatories, retires, fights older washed up fighters and fights smaller jr welter weights instead of defending his title against legitamit welter weight champs. Then cries like the ***** that he is cause he realizes that the fans know he's scared...reality at it's best.

Cotto took and gave the best he had with Margo, that's something we will never see from Mayweather and there's nothing admirable about that period.
