the vast majority in-fighting that occurred occurred after the 6th and Hatton was gone at that point.

in the earlier rounds mayweather tried to mix it on the inside a couple of times and got beaten out of it by the more aggressive hatton, but this happened rarely thanks to cortez

Mayweather knew that this would be a key area of the fight, thats why he influenced the ref in the media about hatton being a 'dirty fighter' etc

FMJ could handle any infighting Hatton could bring (see mayweather v chavez) but theres no getting away from the fact that Hatton doesnt fight 'clean' on the inside, he mauls, elbows and pushes and holds and hits, this is afterall, Boxing.

no he couldn't, there were times in that fight where he was running from hatton and ducking down and turning his back just to get away from him because HAtton was so aggressive, a proper ref wouldn't have allowed that
