Roy Jones had the chance to fight Bernard Hopkins and make a name for himself.

Instead he chose to fight Clinton Woods instead and now his career is all but over, he has nothing to show for it.

Jones beat Hopkins (a version that could fight for more than 20 seconds per round) He's simply fought a higher level of fighter than Calzaghe but has gone on for too long, he was world champion before calzaghe had even been heard of, and is simply the superior boxer, all you have to do is put they're highlight reels side by side, theres no comparison. Could JC have stepped up to heavy and defeat Ruiz? I think not

How anyone can pick Hopkins to beat Calzaghe is beyond me... That was a clear UD for Cal.
I thought Taylor deserved a SD way more in the his second fight against Pavlik. Pavlik the agressor Taylor with the best shots and way more output then Hopkins.

he looked 'phenomenal one of a kind " because he fought people like Ricky Frazier etc he is a highlight reel fighter who has an undeserved rep because he whooped people like Farzier so easy

Yes, Tarver is more than a Journeyman but he is not any where near RJJ in his prime. RJJ was an absolute freak in his prime he made a prime James Toney look like a bum. After his fight with Ruiz at heavy weight his attempt to drop over 25 pounds of muscle caused him to crash and he has never been the same since. I watched RJJ fight many times before the 1st Tarver fight and after the first round i could see something was wrong with him. By the second fight he was ready to go. As for Cal he to is a great fighter, and he beat Hopkins and he looked bad only because of his style, and because Hopkins makes everyone look terrible (he is crafty but defensive in his old age). On another note why is every great fighter past of present a bum on this forum. I have seen Pacman, Floyd, Hopkins, RJJ, just to name a few be overrated. By their fans maybe but these men are some of the best in their generation to lace up the gloves, a little respect from boxing fans would be nice. Peace out
