Except thats not really true. Amateur boxing is very different than pros, which is why successful amateur boxers usually need a LOT of schooling to make a successful pro career. Gamboa himself proves this, as does Amir Khan who won a silver and yet is quite terrible in some areas, notably defense.
In Gamboas case, he is so fast and talented that he seems to neglect to bother with a defense at all, and boxes in an unortodox style that leaves him open. He needs to improve his fundamental technique.
