Sorry to make a thread about this but I know a lot of people will agree... Just because Cotto lost (as I suspected he would) that does'nt mean he's "shot" or "finished" or "damaged goods" or whatever other rarely appropriate phrase you can dream up after watching legendary nights episodes on Youtube. LOL.

Cotto is fine. He was'nt "ruined", he just got beat. The towell came in at the right time and Cotto will go on in the sport. Personally, I'd like to see a rematch...

Anyway, you all are talking too much **** is what I'm trying to say...

Relax...It's not all that serious. There have been many worse beatdowns than what Cotto got. He's fine.

you dont know if cotto is shot or not until his career furthers or not....

marg lost to williams and people wrote him off look at him now.......

if cotto comes back and beats marg things will change........

didnt sugar ray come back and beat duran.......

you cant say yes or no until you see how he does........

now if he comes back and gets azz ****d by hatton say than you can pretty much say its a wrap....lol.

I don't think Cotto can beat Margarito. That does'nt make him shot. Some people don't know what a shot fighter IS from the looks of things.

But the point is we're fans, it's part of our job description to speculate. In football when a guy tears his ACL you speculate how good he'll be when he comes back. Boxing is no different.

We've seen fighters who couldn't recover from the worst beatings of their careers. Meldrick Taylor, Jeff Lacy, Ricky Hatton (having a tough time), Fernando Vargas. Those are just the recent examples.

It's not at all ****** to speculate on it, if the speculation is warranted and not your run of the mill "OMG PWNED He's ruined!" bull****. That I can agree, gets tiresome.

But it's not outside of the realm of possibility that last night loss will permanently effect Cotto's career either.

It's your RIGHT to speculate yes, and it's my right to point out when people mindlessly jump the gun, calling someone "shot" just cause they lost.

Only time will tell if Cotto is shot or not. None of us have that answer but we'll all know soon enough. Maybe some people are jumping th egun but after a beating like that it's not exactly uncommon, because we've seen it all before.

On a side note I can't believe I said "gootball" instead of "football". I'm having a bad day for typos.

its impossible to get beaten that badly and not loose confidence. bob should give him a few alfredo gomez's before he fights margarito again

                I see it like this;

Cotto is too big to go back to JR WELTER. Where he could become a great fighter.
Cotto just proved he is too small to compete with these huge welter weights.

He may get another alphabet title at WW but other than that he's done.....

It's part of the lure of sports. I suggest you get over it.
You're both right in that we all say some way out things but some people take it a little further than others.

1.We will have to wait and see how Cotto does in his next few fights.

2.A new trainer would help but his uncle and style of fighting are what got him this far so i wouldn't say that he needs a new one in order to win.

                  3. Marg did not become god when he won this fight.

                  4. Cotto is still young and some what green.
He has a great chance of making a comeback.

                      5. Floyd doesn't have the same power or attack as Marg so there is no reason to think that Floyd would have done the same thing to Cotto.
What if some how Cotto did build a big lead on Floyd is Floyd going to be able to knock Cotto out or hurt him in the same way and get a tko?

Sure he can cut Cotto up and do some damage but if he was in need of a ko we really don't know how Floyd would react since he has never been in that situation before.

My money wouldn't be on Cotto but I wouldn't count on Cotto being stopped in the same way either.
