      reasons why
Hatton lost, because he couldnt block mayweathers punches
Hopkins lost, cause he didnt tie his shoes
Quintana lost, because he forgot to block when he was hurt

            Miguel Cotto Con's

Cotto has been on cloud 9 before he was even a champion,
Now that Cotto is now in the spotlight and boxing is looking towards him to replace Floyd. He has left himself no room to grow as a fighter...

No More Unproven Contenders Like Gomez,
No More Past their Prime Old Fighters Mosely in which He barely Wins..
No More fighting non active fighters like Judah
He now has to fight Prime,Active, Young , P4P, Highly ranked Fighters....
There is no more grace time.....The Time is Now....
And His First Test is Margarito....
Remember Cotto has never had to beat a Champion For his Title...He has always fought fellow contenders for vacant titles....

I have been seeing this coming though, but the commentators on HBO are just commenting on the good things they see. Instead of the little things he does wrong that champions will see and will counter, and will not miss. He still gets hit a lot, and wastes a lot of punches. Sometimes he punches from too far out and leaves gaps where he can be countered or beaten to the punch.

            • Zab Judah Show you how to counter him....
            • Shane Mosley show you how to pressure him
            • Demarcus Corely Show you how to accurately hit him...

and Margarito will Probably show how can he handle being hurt by somebody who can finish the job
And all those fighters all had defaults in their game....Either they were too old, primes their prime, not active before fighting him, or basic contenders.....

Margarito is none of the above.
Margarito is not past his prime, he is active before fighting cotto, and he is not a contender.

Margarito is a fighter, Fighters like Cotto and Williams get credit for.

Steward,Merchant and Lampley make and made Cotto out to be some phenom, because he's KO'd a bunch of lightweights, contenders, and Past their prime fighters
when they know he's starving to make the weight.

I am not saying Cotto doesn't have a chance against Prime Young P4P Fighters
but he still might be too green to face the guy that His Fans and Arum are expecting Cotto to now fight.
He still has very good skills, power, and a lot of heart, that will keep in the fights. Unfortunately, he still gets hit a lot, and wastes a lot of punches.

            ...

.....IMO Cotto should have come forward more in the later part of the fight. Backing up and allowing Marg to corner him and chase him was a bad idea at that point. Granted he delivered some nice counters but he needed to take the steam out of Marg's offense. The few times he came forward he backed Margarito up for a short period of time and kind of threw him off IMO. Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. Margarito fights much better coming forward and when fighters try and cover he just bashes away. I would force him backwards if at all possible and keep throwing punches in bunches.

He is still my favorite fighter but I have to hand it to Margarito, he kept the pressure on him and didnt give up, which is exactly what he's known to do. But in the first half of the fight, Cotto was obviously up on the scorecards and it seemed as if he could keep it up the pace all night. He was jabbing, bobbing and weaving, and countering with precision that I havent seen in years! I was so impressed by his boxing skills, and I dont think anybody else can say otherwise. But why didnt he go to the body? That was suppose to be his key to victory was going to the body because everybody knows Margarito has a good chin, so Cotto was suppose to test his ribs. I can barely recall him throwing any hooks to the body! And to add to that towards the ending rounds he stopped JABBING! I was so screaming at the tv telling him to Jab and he just wouldnt anymore! he was gassed and didnt know what to do, because he's never been in that kind of predictment. He was pretty well conditioned, but not conditioned enough to keep up the pace he was dealing with. Which is why im confused, why did he run out of gas? He was more tired than beaten, so he took a knee and his corner through in the towel. Technically, Yes it is considered a Knockout, but he didnt get counted out, or the ref didnt stop the fight. I would love a rematch, and definitely think that now that Cotto has a taste of what Margarito can bring, he'll definitely train harder.

Before the fight Max was in the dressing rooms talking with Cotto and he asked him if their was any extra preparation that he did for this fight. and cotto's answer was no, he trained for this fight like he did any other fight. I dont think he was taking the fight as seriously as everybody else.

So in conclusion...if Cotto's jab wouldnt of disappeared, and his conditioning was a little better, he would of had this fight in the bag
More tired than beaten? did you see his face? did you see his will breaking after each round? you mention his conditioning could have been "a little better"? when prior to the fight he said this was his hardest training camp ever, that he looked like a monster according to all of his fans from the training camp pictures? give me a ****ing break, if those aren't excuses then I have no idea what they are. People are crying over Cotto not throwing to the body, how can he possible have done that against a guy who kept coming at him and smother him like Tony did all night? Cotto lunges to the body and is wide open when he does so, more so than when he throws to the chin, he's more vulnerable there and he felt Tony's power early on the fight, if Cotto would of traded with Tony on the inside he would of gotten KO'd earlier. Just accept it bro, it's over.

yeah your right, theirs only 2 things you can do against people like margarito, and thats outbox em, (stick and move) or try and go toe to toe with them and make them back up! Cotto tried the first one, now i think its time for him to try the second

Quite honestly, he'll never be the same, he should retire soon. He's taken punishment in almost all of his fights. He can't take another one, Margarito was the last straw. This also goes For Margarito, nobody is superman, you can only put the body through so much.

Everytime Margarito and Cotto wen't toe to toe Cotto got hurt. That should answer your question "Why didn't he go to the body?"
