To give credit to Cotto, I don't think Margarito has ever been hit as much as he did this fight. Cotto is a very sharp strong puncher, but this man has an adamantium chin.

I have always loved Marg's style, but man those shots to the head he took scared me a bit. I know his chin is one of the best the sport has ever seen, but taking shots like that does take a toll in the long run. There will be a life when boxing is over he needs to invest in. Taking those punches, whether effected or not during the fight, will take something from him. He should try to tighten things up a bit more.

Cotto took a beating as well, it is hard to tell if he will ever be the same. A brutal first loss can be a hard thing to overcome. His aura of being invincible is gone and will never return.

Honestly, If Cotto can improve fightig with his back against the ropes and throw the jab he would have won. Its not about going to the body, that is risky.

Im just re-watching the fight, its really surprising and astonishing. You cant blame him because everytime he let his hands go he couldnt help but hit Margarito flush.

But he COMPLETELY forgot about the body, probably because he thought he was going to score a KO with all those head punches.

Didnt land almost any left hooks to the body. Did no softening what so ever. Whereas Margarito was constantly pounding that body. So while Cotto was exhausted late, Margarito was just starting to get strong.

In a rematch, i think we could be looking at a different fight down the stretch. Hopefully they make the fight happen next year after both guys have had a fight

That is what surprised me also. Cotto had to know Margarito's head was too tough. I thought he would try to soften his body, but I guess the head was a juicy target.

I will say this though. If marg gets hit like that again his chin will eventually fail him. It will not stay that tough forever. Taking head shots like that over and over again is downright scary iron chin or not.

I wouldn't be surprised if Margo starts slurring soon...

Cotto was landing mostly arm punches. He never commited to digging in to the body either. Those shots look hard that Margs took, but are not hard to a boxer who rolls with shots as Margs did with the bombs. Margs did get hit, but not as hard as it looked. Imo, Cotto can't beat Margs in a rematch.

Everytime Cotto started throwing, he landed and Margarito stopped throwing. The problem was that Cotto just didn't throw enough...He was in such defensive mode the entire fight.

I think Cotto was wary of Margarito's uppercuts, so he tried to just box and move on him.
