Oscar HAS to fight Margarito.....its the only thing he can do.
And I think oscar can beat him.
Margarito is just a tough guy with a granite chin.
He has no skills at all.
Oscar has ALL the skills and a good chin too.
I see Ocar going to the body of Margarito and breaking him down.
Remember the fight Oscar had with Mayorga....every time he hit his body he hurt him.
Thats how you stop these granite chinned guys.
Unfortunately Floyd Mayweather is too scared to fight so Oscar is the only one.
Arum wont let Williams NEAR margarito now.
And by the way.....
Cotto needs to get a new trainer......Buddy McGirt would be nice.
Just my thoughts.
But im not impressed by Margarito AT ALL!Comment

I just think that DLH would have a better chance than people would give him. He's not 5'7" like Cotto, he's 5'11" just like Margarito. He would be able to use his jab more effectively and follow with the right hand or left hook.
The only thing I can see working against DLH would be his conditioning. Marg doesn't stop coming and I don't know if DLH has one more left in him to be able to box for 12 rounds.Comment

God i hope this fight happens but i doubt DLH will be man enough to take it. and to be honest i wouldnt completely hold it against him because margarito would destroy him. de la hoya sucks against body punchers and he hasnt always had great stamina much less now thats its pretty much crap. margarito by tko in 8. come on though DLH be a man and fight margarito!!!!!!!Comment

I know what he is saying now- that he is not interested in fighting any Mexicans, but here is why he will likely change his mind.
First of all: anyone who knows oscar knows that there has to be some drama before sealing up a fight deal and date. that is just his style. when he says that the public can not have something, it is usually a business ploy to get mouth's watering, because everyone wants what they can't have!
My second point concerns Oscar's competitive spirit... When has DLH NOT wanted to fight the best?!?!?!?!?. just look at his resume.... Sweat Pea, JCC, B-Hop, Sugar Shane, Ike Quartey, Floyd, Tito, Vargas, the all-time great stevie '2 Pound' forbes (j/k). The only reason Pac is even in the picture now is because he is the lb for lb #1 right now, but DLH knows that this fight is ludacris...
Also, Oscar has always wanted to be recognized as a true Mexican warrior. In the Tito match, he had his chance to gain favor in the eyes of Mexicans, but he ran, lost the match, and the respect of Mexicans instead.
Instead of gaining him popularity with the mexican people, his two demolitions of JCC actually backfired on him and caused him to be hated... this will not be the case though against margarito, because oscar will be the past-his-prime fighter this time around. instead of being viewed as the young stud who picked on an old man and hero of the mexican people, he will be the underdog this time.... if he wins, it is heroic. if he gets destroyed, he becomes a martyr for the mexican people- b/c he will have sacrificed his well-being for them....
by beating Margarito- he can prove that he is a true mexican warrior. he will have the opportunity to go out on top by beating "the most feared man in boxing" - a guy who was ducked by two of oscar's conquerors- shane and floyd. a guy who just defeated one of the top pound for pound fighters in the world in cotto, who had himself beaten his two-time-conqueror shane mosley.
Oscar also can stand to make a lot of money and sell a lot of tickets if this fight is in LA. There is a huge Mexican population in LA and Margarito is from Tiajuana which is not that far of a trip. the numbers will be like any other de la hoya fight- astronomical!
This is the best fight out there for Oscar right now and if he doesnt realize it now, he will be the end of the next two weeks. Mark my words... Oscar will fight Margarito!!!

By the way, I love De La Hoya, but I think I may be leaning towards a Margarito victory at this stage in De La Hoya's career...Comment
