I think oscar has more left than people think. I think Flyod was actually scared of what he would look like after Floyd Sr. trained him to fight him.... The Margarito fight could be AMMMMAAAAZZZZZIIIIINNNNNGGGGGG!!!!

There is no way oscar would fight marg. No way in hell. If he did he would get his ass whooped. IMHO. I would love to watch it tho!

Margarito should fight Williams not Oscar.. Williams avenge his loss on Quintana and Margarito should do the same.

With his potential opponents list dwindling, Oscar de la Hoya's next fight will be announced in "less than ten days," says Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer.

Bob Arum says that Oscar won't fight a Mexican in his last bout, which rules out Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr., and newly-crowned WBA welterweight titleholder Antonio Margarito.

What are we looking at here?

With Chavez or Margarito out, that narrows it down. Felix Trinidad won't fight below 164 pounds, which probably rules him out. Miguel Cotto's loss rules him out. Floyd Mayweather, Jr., is retired.

        So you know who's left?

Manny Pacquiao. Believe it, y'all. The fight was talked about last year when Larry Merchant brought it up to Dan Rafael, who brought it up to Bob Arum, who liked it. Now it seems like every time Rafael mentions it, he qualifies it with, "It's not as crazy as you might think!"

It's really not crazy at all. Oscar is not naturally a whole lot bigger than Manny, and let's be honest: Oscar isn't all that great anymore, either. Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, has said recently that the idea would be for him to weigh in at around 140-145 pounds and re-hydrate up, and just accept the few pounds of weight difference.

Roach thinks Pacquiao would knock out Oscar. I can't say as though I totally disagree.

It's an interesting fight because of the dynamics involved, and because it's a huge global affair. If Pacquiao beats Oscar, he's legitimately a phenomenon the likes of which we've really never seen.

This is what I'm expecting, but hey, you never know. It's gotta be the biggest money fight, the one that will attract the most interest, and it sort of gives him a shot to be the Mexican to beat Pacquiao, too.

        We'll see.

in the post fight conference, arum talked about how the ppv numbers might change the minds of all the guys who were planning on avoiding margarito, including one mr. de la hoya.... the numbers were huge and the majority of buyers were mexican. a mexican war is inevitable. its happening boys and girls. mark my words. than he can lay williams to rest next. i have bought and stamped my ticket on the margarito hype train! all aboard!

              ****.
Oscar is a millionaire many times over and should not step back in the ring with the likes of Tony. Oscar looked average against Forbes who is nothing. Why put yourself one punch away from a cerebral hemorhage?
De La Hoya previously said he would be reluctant to take on another Mexican fighter - particularly one who rearranges faces like Margarito does.

I think, at this point in Oscars career he'd eventually fold in the later rounds. He's always been one to fade in the later rounds, but imagine if he had someone pressuring him the entire fight! That being said, I think Oscar being a master boxer with POWER would be able to make Maragrito respect him early and hopefully make Margarito start slow which has been his slight downfall and ride the later rounds.

Either way it has the potential of being a tremendous fight... here's to hoping.
