    The funny thing is....

Everyone's prediction's were right, apart from the actual outcome, which is all that matters in the end, but....

Cotto really made Margarito look rather second rate and hackish, but, Margarito's persistence and dogged determination and his conditioning is what won him the fight. Cotto looked brilliant for the first half and then some but his conditioning left something to be desired. Whether he couldn't breathe because of his busted up nose or not, I don't know.

Margarito just didn't and wouldn't stop coming and he took a hell of a beating. That guys chin is pretty amazing. One thing I was surprised at was that Cotto didn't do much body work. It would have slowed Marg down for the latter half of the fight.

Anyway, big props to both guys for a classic fight! Both showed what has made them the prominent WW's of today. I hope Cotto takes some time off and decides to come back strong and I hope that Margarito gets the big fights he deserves.

One thing that has now been shown though, a fight with Mayweather would be an utter embarrassment for Margarito. Mayweather has the conditioning and better boxing skills to do what Cotto did for the first half, but for the whole twelve rounds without too much trouble. Marg just a bit too slow and and unskilled. Marg should try and get a fight with Hoya.

          I agree.

I remember thinking during the fight that it was going exactly like I thought it was going to go, I just didn't expect Cotto to headhunt so much, he didn't work the body as much as I thought he would and I didn't expect him to slow down as dramatically as he did and get knocked out.

Props to both fighters for putting on a great fight, they both deserve respect and hopefully for Cotto, he can rebound from this loss.

Not to make excuses or anything, but what size was the ring? It looked pretty small.

I think Margarito would lose to Mayweather as well but he'd be able to give Mayweather some trouble with his pressure.

I Thought Of That Too, But Nah... Cotto Simply Somehow Neglected The Body.

Tony's uppercut was golden when he used it. Cotto's body attack was nullified. He paid the price in close.

I watched the fight drunk with some friends. We all must have had too much because the feeling in the room was that Margarito was winning the fight. I'll re-watch when sober before debating that one, but yes, where the hell was the body work?

Yes, when you go to the body, you tend to leave yourself open, but they were several times when the body was available and Cotto didn't take it.

Like I said, I'm drunk, but I think Cotto should've gone to the body a lot more.
