The perfect scenario was Cotto winning and De La Hoya fighting him for the pride of Mexico in his last fight. That would have been even bigger than Cotto-Margarito. But now if he fights Margarito even if he wins it would be Chavez all over again where the Mexican fans turn on him.

On the contrary, Cotto's chances of getting a fight with Oscar just got better. It proved Cotto is beatable and Oscar will have a fighter's chance of winning the fight.. If Cotto won, it would have been difficult for Oscar seeing that it will be a hard fought fight with no chance of winning.. First oscar didn't want to fight puerto ricans because of his wife now he doesn't want to fight mexicans because his people will turn on him?.....BS. The only fights that make sense are mora (who seems to be rematching forrest) or margarito, thats it. They can fight in L.A. and it will be huge. Oscar is no longer a factor. He even knows his skills are diminishing. No real surprise he decides to side step Margarito. DLH would definitely need to retire after this though.
