Look this is not to bash the filipino boxers
but Mexico has so many champions and world class guys, so does puerto rico.

But the filipinos cannot seem to get any other decent prospects to that level. They must lack some sorta top level training or maybe they do not have what it takes the in ring smarts like penalosa and pacman to follow a game plan and look for openings.

I notice many of them just throw punches with textbook style they do not look for openings or time their shots they just throw punches at the gloves and body to see if one lands while backing away after throwing them.

              Rodel mayol
              Randy Suico
              boom boom bautista
              Aj Banal
              And countless others.

Next to Fall is that kid Ironman Bernabe Concepcion tongiht maybe?

Bernabe Concepcion, unlike those guys you enumerated doesn't train at ALA Gym, so he doesn't get contaminated by the failure virus. Condes was champ before he started training at the ALA gym, that's probably why he lost his title. Jaca and Tunacao also trained there...that's why they're now basically journeymen at best. It must be the water there or something.

Donnie Nietes is the only Champ they have now but I don't think they have plans to pit the guy with fighters with REAL skills because if they do, he might become another Tunacao - dethroned.

The likes of Louisito Espinosa, Dodie-boy Penalosa, Gerry Penalosa, Rolando Navarette didn't train there and these are probably the best fighters we have before Pacman came along. So the next time you look at a Filipino prospect, see if he trained at ALA gym...if he did he'd be more or less a hype-job.

By the way, Nonito Donaire trains there now...I wonder if that has anything to do with his luck finding good fights nowadays.

Actually the countries are listed beside one another as 13th and 14th in terms of population.

How did you become so negative about pinoy boxers all of the sudden? I assumed you were a fan.

When Pac first started defeating Mexican fighters, many Pac nuts assumed any one of their boxers would have the same success against them. That's when they began hyping all their prospects as future Mannys but I've noticed that they've toned down their trash talking after seeing some of their prospects fall. Pac has done alot to promote the sport and has opened the doors for other pinoy boxers but Filipino boxing still lacks the foundation necessary to have a dominant presence. I dont think a major shakeup will occur until Fidel is out of power and Cubans start competing on the professional level. Pinoy boxers arent going anywhere though and that's a good thing because boxing is built on rivalries. I dont think it's a coincidence that several Mexican boxers have recently stepped up their game. Mexicans can be very nationalistic and they can become extremely motivated after having their pride challenged. The same goes for Pinoys so Viva the Mexico-Filipino boxing rivalry.
