I think if Miguel Cotto wins it makes him the best welterweight in the world...because he's fought ALL (with the exception of floyd and williams) the welterweights (major ones anyway) and won...

margarito only has big wins of cintron and he has a loss to williams but never stepped up and took on mosley or the other top welters...

so if margarito wins i think the welterweights are as mixed as they were a year ago.

so if cotto wins i think he proves he is the best welter...if margarito wins we will be seeing many more welterweight showdowns involving him to decide a top welter.

i think a fight between williams would definately set it in stone, but if cotto wins you have to say hes at an arguable position to call himself that, even moreso than williams.

I agree, becuase Cotto's resume at welterweight is even better than Mayweather's so a win over Margarito would leave no doubt that Cotto is the man at 147 . However, if Margarito wins then Williams could say that he has already beaten Margarito so he deserves to be called the best.
