they think the sun should be named after floyd mayweather.
that floyd should be the next thing people always think about besides sex.
now as you know they've taken fanboydom to a whole other level.
i put this in a language they'd understand.Comment

Quick question for TCN: What if Cotto does everything you mention (which I agree at least for those who rid Cotto of his acomplishments, except the last part) and Mayweather still won't come out of "retirement" to fight him, would you recognize that Mayweather is ducking Cotto? or justify it with an excuse about Cotto not deserving a fight with Mayweahter? (Which you did say that would be unavoidable)
And when/if he wins tommorow will you recognize Miguel Cotto as the great fighter he is?Comment

I will assume the reasons Floyd Mayweather Jr. gave for retiring were truthfully reflective of where he at.Quick question for TCN: What if Cotto does everything you mention (which I agree at least for those who rid Cotto of his acomplishments, except the last part) and Mayweather still won't come out of "retirement" to fight him, would you recognize that Mayweather is ducking Cotto? or justify it with an excuse about Cotto not deserving a fight with Mayweahter? That he has run out of drive for the sport.
Which would be fair when you consider that Cotto and Mayweather are at very different stages of they careers.
If a fighter feels that he no longer has the edge to give his all --- why should he continue when he already achieved ATG status and knows that he could have beat any of the pretenders prime for prime?
Cotto already had the chance to fight Floyd Jr. once --- and he steered around.
A fighter's prime is mental as well as physical.
So if the fight never happens --- they will simply have missed each others primes.
I have no problem with acknowledging Cotto as a great fighter in the context of the present.
There are different kinds of greatness.
If he wins in a controlling, impressive fashion and brings the display of skill and ring generalship to Margarito that his fans say he will bring --- I will acknowledge him as elite.
If there is controversy --- it could be made more difficult to guage.Comment

Fair enough answer, and I applaud the fact that you acknowledge Cotto a great fighter since (as you may have read) many members here fail to acknowledge him as a great fighter and discredit his wins, but the fact that you will acknowledge Cotto as elite if he wins to Margarito (in impressive fashion) is good in my point of view. One quick question a bit out of topic, If Cotto and Mayweather fight, and Cotto wins the fight what will you acknowledge Cotto as? and will you give all credit to Cotto for beating your fighter?

If Cotto beat Floyd Jr. --- I would acknowledge him as a probable great of the boxing ages.Fair enough answer, and I applaud the fact that you acknowledge Cotto a great fighter since (as you may have read) many members here fail to acknowledge him as a great fighter and discredit his wins, but the fact that you will acknowledge Cotto as elite if he wins to Margarito (in impressive fashion) is good in my point of view. Because his résumé would show it.
He has some excellent wins already, but it's the accumulation of challenges that would mark his true greatness out.
I wouldn't praise a Margarito win highly because I think Margarito is great himself --- but because it would show Cotto overcoming disadvantages he's never faced before to prevail against a fighter who is able to be a ruthless brute @ welter because he could/should be fighting in higher weightclasses.
A win over Mayweather would be an achievement further --- and a contrasting one.
My only condition is that I would never want to see these 2 fight if the desire is missing from one of them.
Because a fight of that magnitude would deserve both fighters @ the peak of they mental and physical powers.
I believe Mayweather still has that desire when presented with the right fight.
And if Cotto keeps winning --- he would be that fight.Comment

Is TCN your legal registered trademark? May I steal it then sue you for using it if I file with the patent office?
