Roy Jones fought like an amatuer at some parts of his career left himself completely exposed with his antics, certainly not textbook by any stretch.

I'm not comparing Naz to Roy Jones just saying, unorthadox styles do not mean he doesn't warrant consideration as a great fighter.

At his best Naz kept people on the back foot by being crazy and jumping around the ring because they were always fearful of that uppercut and his power in general, for me that is just as much as a style as working behind your jab. MAB beat him because he didnt fall for it, and he was no doubt a better more accomplished fighter than Naz.

That doesn't mean Naz was a joke though he beat some great fighters, and beat them well.

Naz is the real reason most people started watching the featherweight division. Barrera and Morales owe this dude alot financially. Everybody was waiting to see the Hamed Main Event but where astonished to see Morales and Barrera go at it in the undercard. Hamed is the reason for more fighters recieving that dough. He had bad Balance and would always put his hands down, that is what made him exciting. He was the world champ and lost a DECISION to Barrera, he didn't get knocked out. Defense and Dedication where never his two strongpoints but he made up for it with Power and Heart.

        He beat WHO?

It wasn't because he was a great fighter, it was coz the awful fighters made him look great.

Until he met Barrera. Morales would have killed him. He retired at age 26. Jesus. And his fans say he was past his prime. Puhleeeeeez.

I wanted to do one of my GREATNESS series threads on Naseem but I wasn't really in the mood this morning......but I'm in the mood now.

        NASEEM HAMED 36-1-0 (31 KO's)

        WBO Featherweight Champion 1995-2000
        IBF Featherweight Champion 1997
        WBC Featherweight Champion 1999-2000

Please note that Hamed beat every beltholder at 126 in his time , the only reason he didn't hold all those belt and wasn't the undisputed , unified champion was due to WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO politics.

Let's take a closer look at this BUM'S resume. Here's a list of his notable wins , his opponents , their record at the time they fought Naseem and all the titles they held.

        TKO11 Medina (52-7-0) IBF/WBC/WBO126 Champion
        TKO7 Vazquez (50-7-2) WBA118 , WBA122 , WBA126 Champion
        KO4 Kelley (47-1-2) WBC/WBU126 Champion
        UD12 Soto (54-7-2) WBC126 Champion
        TKO8 Johnson (44-2-2) IBF126 Champion
        TKO4 Sanchez (26-1-0)
        TKO11 Ingle (21-0-0) IBF126 Champion
        UD12 McCullough (22-1-0) WBC118 Champion
        TKO2 Molina (27-0-0)
        TKO8 Robinson (21-9-1) WBO126 Champion
        KO2 Liendo (42-4-3)
        TKO6 Cruz (44-6-6)
        KO2 Perez (37-12-2) IBF115 Champion
        KO4 Castro (43-17-3)
        TKO4 Bungu (37-2-0) IBF122 Champion

Not bad for a HEARTLESS JOKE of a fighter. But then again he's still a BUM because his ONE loss was to Hall Of Famer Marco Antonio Barrera right? Because not too many guys lost to Marco......

WHO? I listed some of their names.

If you don't think they're very good then you're entitled to your opinion.

Critic some of them in detail if you like.

You don't have to beat GREAT fighters necessarily to be a GREAT fighter.

I consider Tyson a great fighter. How many other greats did he beat?

                  Larry Holmes? Who else?

Naseem fought a lot of good fighters. I listed some of them. Notice how he knocked out all but 2 of them I have on my list.

He might not have beat great fighters but he dominated a lot of very good ones.

You don't have to see a Lamborghini race a Ferrari to realize the Lamborghini is fast as hell. Seeing a Lamborghini smoke a Camaro or Mustang would suffice in assessing its speed.

You people are ridiculous. Yanks are ultra-competitive and critical towards any good fighter from Europe and Britain in particular. Hamed was an awesome boxer, it is there for all to see. You'd have to be dumb not to see it. Another dumb thing is the way so many of you assume literally that any fighter you have not personally heard acclaimed as great in one of the HBO main events you watch each year, he is a bum.

You all need to stop focussing on resumes, so much, because it is you guys who wind up 'exposing' yourselves. Its funny in a way. You know nothing about a boxer but want to say he is ****, so you look at his list of opponents, know nothing about them so you say they are **** in order to prove your point. The funny thing is not when you are wrong about the boxer, or wrong about his opponents, but that you only do this in the first place to cover up the fact that you have next to no idea about how to read a boxing match or a boxer! Try looking at what a boxer can actually do in the ring instead of being blind ****** to statistics. That is how you become a boxing fan and not a fanboy.
