Hamed was the favorite because Barrera was considered old and washed up after his fight with Morales and 2 losses to Junior Jones, I think it was 3 to 1.

Of course if anybody saw Barrera's fight with Jesus Salud they would have had a different opinion, Manny Steward did commentary on the fight and said afterwards that he may have to tell Hamed to take another fight.

i loved to hate the guy back then. i remember i was praying for marco to kill him and shut that "clown" up.

but seeing people dismiss him is sad......and it takes away from one of Marco's greatest victories.
He was a big favourite against Barrera I believe. People forget how good he actually he was, and how much talent he had. One of my favourite boxers.

        people have short memories......

pacquiao has a close fight in march he got lucky. he beats up his next opponent and he's unstoppable.

hatton signs to fight floyd and his style is made to give floyd problems. he losses and he's a bum who never deserved a shot at floyd.

hopkins will kick joe's ass. hopkins was too old and now roy will do it.

cotto would knock out floyd. now he won't be able to beat margarito.

I saw Emanuel Steward was his trainer. He cant be bad. Emanuel Steward would never train a bad boxer.

Steward and Suarez (his co-trainer) tried to change his style and Hamed had a ****** system where he would have Steward talking to him after one round then have Suarez talking to him after the next round.

Steward also threatened to quit Hamed's camp before the Barrera fight.

Steward is a good trainer for sure. Problem was that Hamed was all talent, and had one of the most unorthodox styles imaginable, based around speed and power. His original trainers, the Ingles understood his talent and helped him to maximise it, but he got arrogant and fired them. He began to neglect training, but even more importantly he began to get older and when he signed up with Steward he wasn't quite as fast as he had been. Steward tried to compensate for this by improving his boxing fundamentals and giving him a more 'normal' style, but it didn't really work.

Lots of people blame Steward, but I don't. Naz just got a bit old and a bit too lax and it cost him.

steward is not that great , winter.

wlad would be better with someone else.

i liked wlad's style better before steward got a hold of him.
