What happened to Adrian Diaconu fighting Glen Johnson?

I thought this fight was suppose to be on the same day of Dawson/Tarver to set up a unification match between the two winners? Tunney has accused Dawson of avoiding fighters and i am just anxious to see if Diaconu will give Johnson a title shot. Diaconu is currently signed to faced Silva Branco.

The WBC decided to make Silvio Branco the mandatory instead of Johnson, because Johnson already had a title shot this year and lost a UD.

Although a lot of people whined about a robbery, it doesn't change the fact that Johnson lost to Dawson!

I'm sure Diaconu's management will give him another opportunity, but it's better if Glenn is coming off a win.

Is there any souces to confirm that? Becuase shortly after his contraversial loss to Dawson, i heard that Johnson was awarded by becoming the WBC's number one mandotory. Johnson was never a mandotory for Dawson, Dawson choose him becuase it would be a good win over a good name and for Johnson to have his title shot. After Branco's loss to Strip Drews, he has not beaten any name fighters. Therefore, how does he deserve a title shot? Explain to me, Tunney.

I don't know, I remember reading that the WBC was going to decide between the two, and then a couple of days later I read Branco was chosen.

They're actually about equal - Branco was good in his prime and had a world title, and although he's coming off a string of wins, hasn't beaten a good opponent in a while. Johnson has had a lot of losses, including his last fight, and has had more opportunities and title shots over the years than just about anybody except Golota.

Someone in his prime like Braehmer might be better.

Thats a good point, Johnson has had his losses, however most of them were before he hit his true prime and he IS the dean of the divison. No one can claim that they are the best before fighting Johnson and since Johnson is supposly the mandotory, i wonder if Diaconu will end up giving him his shot. I actually wouldn't blame him for not fighting him, but you would have to take back some of the stuff you said about Dawson avoiding the best if Diaconu doesn't fight the best in his title reign.

Slicksouthpaw16, I just found this article:

                http://www.thefightnetwork.com/news/...ory_challenger

The WBC made the decision, not Diaconu nor his management. I personally would have preferred Johnson, since he would be the better name on Diaconu's resume, although I don't think either really deserved it.

The WBC suck for that. After the way he fought against Dawson I think he deserves a shot.

                  Wouldn't you agree?

The WBC has also decided that Johnson will fight the winner of Branco vs. Diaconu.
