What Fighters Have Carried Power Thru All The Weight Classes?

Georges Carpentier - the ultimate p4p fighter.
Guy started his career as a friggin Bantamweight or Flyweight or something, fighting guys like Charles Ledoux, went up all the way to Heavyweight at the end of his career where he fought the likes of Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney and Battling Levinsky. He knocked out Ted Lewis and Levinsky at Light Heavyweight, despite starting his career as a little guy.
Pretty amazing.
A very recent example would be Guillermo Jones. Started as a Welterweight and knocked out a high % of his opponents. Moved up through the weights where he now fights as a Cruiserweight. Just as recently as 3 years ago he stopped top rated Cruisers like Kelvin Davis and Wayne "Big Truck" Braithwaite.
Also very impressive.Comment

Disagree in fact I think Erik should be labeled as a fighter who didn't carry his power to higher weight classes.
from his last fight at 122 to his first fight at 130 he had 9 fights and KO'd 5 opponents which is a far cry from his power at 122
from his first fight at 130 to his last fight he KO'd exactly one opponent.Comment

Sam Langford.
Jimmy McLarnin defeated Pancho Villa at 122 lbs, and KO'd welterweight champion Young Corbett in one round.
Jimmy Ellis started his career at middleweight (even fought Hurricane Carter, losing a decision) and turned out to be a pretty good puncher at heavyweight.
Michael Spinks knocked out an unprepared Gerry Cooney. Might not sound that impressive but considering Spinks started his career at 165 lbs, KO'ing 6'6, near 240 lb Cooney is a pretty big deal. Few could have ever expected it.Last edited by TheGreatA; 07-24-2008, 11:30 AM.Comment
