It appears the light heavyweight bout between Joe Calzaghe and Roy Jones Jr., officially postponed for November, will still take place at New York's Madison Square Garden. The fight was originally scheduled to take place on September 20. Last Sunday, Calzaghe injured his right wrist during training and was forced to withdraw from the bout on Monday. [details]

I think it's good that this fight stays in America. I don't know much about it, but is it accurate to say that a fight would make more money in Las Vegas than in New York?Comment

David Haye said before that he'll be fighting at the O2 Arena in London for his next few fights, but hopefully he gets himself to America soon.

The big fight atmosphere is much better in NY than in Las Vegas.Comment

1. UK, because then UK fans would turn out on mass, i.e 60k+.
2. LA - because whilst few ppl could make the Hatton fight in LA and Calzaghe fight in NY around the same time, at least some could make it if it was in the same city at least.Comment

Totally. I don't see the logic in keeping the fight in NY for Nov. On the one hand theyre saying ticket sales would be much lower in NY Nov due to Hattons LA fight that same month. On the other, their saying we're still gona keep it there, despite the potential of having it two better venues given the circumstances;

I haven't heard anything about Hatton-Malinaggi happening in LA. You must be confusing it with Mosley-Mayorga. This fight will probably happen in Las Vegas or maybe Atlantic City.Comment

LOL, I meant LV Las Vegas. I mean with the fight in Nov the preference list has to change to something like UK, Las Vegas, NY. I can't see many UK fans going out of there way to go to both fights if their in different cities, they'll choose one. Furthermore many Calzaghe fans are also Hatton fans as much or more. So there's not going to be a massive portion of UK fight fans whom won't go to see Hatton, but will go to see Calzaghe. Tickets are going to be low if it's NY in Nov the way I see it, and it won't please uk fans, the pro's Joe pointed out are much less.Comment
