Now whilst I'm not his biggest fan, look at how many knockouts he's scored through his career. Say what you like about the class of opponent he's fought, but in boxing no matter how good a fighter is, you can't teach chin. Being able to take a punch is something you're born with (or without). You can't claim that every single fighter Calzaghe has fought had a bad chin now can you? I do however think that his power has dwindled the last few years likely due to becoming naturally heavier therefore having to lose more muscle to make weight; I can't see him stopping Jones. And as for Jones, I just don't have an idea as to what sort of shape he's going to be in for this fight but that only makes me want to see it more. The longer it lasts, the more I'd favour Calzaghe. I'm also quite pleased Golden Boy is getting involved, it'd be nice to have some half decent fighters on the undercard rather than Warren cast-offs.
ok, like I said I don't expect any broken glass from jones's jaw with Joe's "power". When's the last time he KO'ed someone? When's the last time he KO'ed someone with ONE shot? Notice Jones's KO's they were not a billion trillion Joe Calzaghe slaps... they were ONE powerful hard punch, just one..... So I ask everyone, when was the last time Joe Calzaghe KO someone with ONE punch????????

Obviously this post is a PRO Cazalghe... you are not even considering Jones into the fight.. its ok.. like I said you will be surprised when you see some recent clips of him. I hope they do a 24/7

Here are the facts: Jones fought big money fights with no meaning. He is now fighting a big money fight with meaning.

Do you notice a common element there?
you are too easy man. YOU'RE missing the point! He set himself up for the fight... got his name out there, got himself in the ring and now he's facing a guy with belts... Does he deserve this fight NOOOOOO.... But he got it...

lol if you want to talk about someone wanting MONEY... that's Joe Calzaghe, not that jones doesn't want money either but CLEARLY joe wants out and he wants out with BIG fights... Jones has SAID IM NOT GOING ANYWHERE.. so this is NOT his last fight... Jones is here to PROVE something.. so relax jack.. get off the jones hater-aid and think.....

Yep, as suspected I'm obviously wasting my time with you.

You're posting a lot of biased opinion, I'm posting facts. Because I don't agree with you, you call me a hater.

Let me know if you can handle a discussion of facts at some point in the future and we can discuss it.

As I said, Calzaghe's power looks a bit deminished of late but urm 2001 he knocked out Mario Veit in the 1st I think??? lol You're right, that's going back some. I know he beat Veit again in 2005 but I can't remember the knockout that time so couldn't claim it was a one-punch. I do remember a power-punch or two from and against Byron Mitchell though - there's gotta be some power involved when it's an early stoppage. Anyway, I'm a fan of Jones I just don't think his last couple of fights allow me to make an accurate judgement of his current condition. He was the best fighter of the 90's, but that was the 90's so I think if Jones doesn't win by early stoppage (if Hopkins can knock Calzaghe down surely Jones must be able to) stamina will be an issue.

You get so sensitive when you are challenged about Joe Calzaghe. That is all. Thank you for proving me correct... good day "mate"..

Yes and that's why my SIG explains my theory. Because if Roy does have legs.. Joe will not be able to compete.... he is not strong enough, fast enough or SMART enough. ONLY thing Joe has (like always) is his legs/endurance. He has nothing else Jones doesn't already bring to the table...

Wess, you can be a good poster when you choose to be, but too often you take a derisive tone with those who disagree with you, which is why people get exasperated and stop talking to you. We're not here for a competition as to who can make one another look the most ******, we're here to discuss boxing, but all too often you seem to try to do the latter, but when you do, especially when there is no call to do so, it just puts people off chatting with you.

You know you are cool with me, but please, take my advice and chill out a little, because respectful discussions are both more rewarding, make you look better, and are also much more effective for getting your points across and proving people wrong in the instances when that is what you want to do.

Oooh I would disagree with you there. Power to Jones most definitely. Speed (probably) to Jones unless age has caught up with him. But then even at 50% he's still faster than most fighters. Smarts though, I'm not so sure about. Outside the ring probably but whilst Roy's bright in the ring, Calzaghe's best attribute for me along with his endurance/chin is his ability to work out his opponents and change his gameplan. He sometimes starts slow but by the mid-rounds has it worked out a la Kessler and Hopkins recently. I really am torn as to who to back in this one as although I say that, Jones has only ever really had a problem with the power of his opponent and that's something Calzaghe wont bring... Still, if it finishes early it's Jones, if it's decision it's Calzaghe.

agreed, he did prove me correct though. he got all sensitive on me, silly little guy... People get too emotional on here, they need to breath and just relax some. it wasn't like i was talking to him in the first place.. None of this hurts my feelings.. I'm not the one crying here... But hey I'll take what you said and make do... Personally I think i do just fine, compared to others..... and if i may add I thought I was being un bias until homeboy came from left field came out of no where... so like I said I think I do just fine. but hey if your cool to me, ill be cool to you... and you know this....

ooooo yes you got me, I would agree and say Calz was pretty good with dealing with changing styles or plans to win those fights... yeah pretty close call on that one.
