How well does Calzaghe have to beat Jones for you not to discredit him?

I think Jones is SHOT.

Coming from a Calzaghe fan, who also thinks Roy Jones is/was the best fighter of the last 20 years.

Currently, all-time favourite fighters, Jones ranks higher than Calzaghe for me.


But, Calzaghe's career isn't over yet, a Pavlik win I think would change my mind.

I feel Jones's career is OVER, but every great fighter deserves one GREAT last fight.

A complete outclass, I dont really care about ko/tko or anything but if Calzaghe could totally outclass Roy with ring generalship, handspeed, and punches landed and didn't slap I think people on here might even give him a little credit, even if it is a 40 year old Jones.

I will give him some credit. I will give him even more if he KD Jones and i will give him a lot if Jones doesn't KD him. Over all I will give credit for this fight. Especially if Jones KD Joe and he still wins. Because my theory is, Jones will KD joe a few times to equal out Joes work rate and make it a close fight...

Both these things. Jones still has the tools to make anyone look bad in some situations, but it shouldnt be enough to make it a really close fight. Otherwise Calzaghe has to drop in the P4P rankins or does anyone think Roy would suddenly be a P4P fighter himself again?

No, not just for beating Joe Calzaghe... If Jones wins this fight its more of a "I TOLD YOU SO" type thing and to bring his name back in the rankings... but P4P stat? NO way!!!! no way at all... Jones has not done anything to prove that.... not yet..lol

Let's be honest, Calzaghe won't get ANY credit for this fight (not on Boxingscene anyway, If Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins didn't get credit), but thats not what I'm asking.

How well does Calzaghe have to do against Jones for this fight not to DISCREDIT him.

The Hopkins fight kinda turned out a bit bad for him, e.g "even a 43 yr old Hopkins gave him a close fight".

So will it be this after the Jones fight "Even a 39 yr old Jones who was way past prime and had been KO'd twice could take Calzaghe the distance".
