I hear you, but how is this Diaconu's fault? I've never seen Branco btw

I don't recall making any comments on Diaconu in this thread. I'm just commenting on the questionable credentials of this challenger.

What has Glen Johnson done to deserve another title shot?

Earlier this year, Chad Dawson got special permission from the WBC to fight the 40 year old Glen Johnson instead of his mandatory Diaconu. Johnson lost the fight, and hasn't won since...

Now, Chad Dawson is afraid to go to Romania to fight Diaconu, so he's dropped the title and is fighting another 40 year old, Antonio Tarver (picking on the wrong old gut this time!).

So people expect Diaconu, who's been ducked by Dawson, to now fight Johnson? Why?

Neither Johnson nor Branco are ideal opponents, and neither has earned a title shot in recent fights. I think Juergen Braehmer would be better, but I understand he'll be fighting Hugo Garay next.

Ideally I'd like to see Diaconu fight and KO Johnson, in hopes that people would stop whining. But even if he did, they'd just say "Johnson was old and shot"...

How do you know Dawson is "afraid" to go to Romania? I bet you didn't know that Gary Shaw, Dawson's promoter, has a stipulation in his contract that should he lose a purse bid, Shaw would get 30 percent of Dawson's purse. Why would someone go over to someone else's country for short money to fight in hostile territory when he can make twice that money fighting a better fighter on American TV?

Who the hell is Juergen Braehmer?

If Diaconu wants to be embraced by American audiences, he has to fight people they had heard of. No one in America knows who Silvio Branco is, so that does him no favors with the American public. Fighting someone like Johnson, who although he had lost to Dawson, he did so in a very competitive fashion that enabled him to hang onto his number 1 contender spot. Branco by contrast is fighting 6 rounders to .500 competition.

Then again, I'd be willing to wager that you are a die-hard Diaconu fan, am I right?

No, I just have a more global perspective than you do. You seem to think the universe ends at the US borders, and nothing exists outside.

Braehmar is a good, prime fighter. We'll be hearing more about him in the next couple of years. You may not believe it, but there ARE good fighters in Europe.

Boxers are making more money in Europe now, because of the greater popularity of boxing and sold-out venues, and also because of the relative strength of the Euro dollar.

Tarver, a better boxer than Diaconnu???

I'd dare to say that you don't know about my global perspective. I've never said there aren't good fighters in Europe, I watch a lot of them. You wouldn't know that though because you aren't me.

I'd say so, Tarver won his belt in the ring, Diaconu picked up a vacated belt. Tarver has been competitive and victorious over a caliber of opposition Diaconu hasn't ever fought.

To be fair to Branco, he has a win over Glen Johnson. I don't know how legit it was since it was held in Italy but the scores were strange http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php...7361&cat=boxer

You don't know boxing if you think Silvio Branco is a good fighter. He sucks, he couldn't hang with Chad Dawson or anyone else in the top 10 LHW's. I've seen him fight he's average at best. Who the hell Silvio Branco beat? He beat no one other then Glen Johnson and most likely that was a robbery. Just another high ranking mandatory, kind of like how Gary Lockett was except Branco is worse. Look up his fights on youtube, if you don't believe me.
