..Seriously, Who Is The FUTURE Of American Boxing?...

Now, I'm not talking about the financial aspect of American boxing. The biggest stars GENERALLY fight here, so the U.S. wouldn't suffer in that regard.

There will always be boxing on television, so that problem isn't in the way, either.

However, most casual fans prefer an American they can root for when they want to go out of their way to watch a fight, especially if said fight is for 40 or 50 bucks.

But, out of the fighters I listed (or someone I missed), who do you think have the best chances of becoming big time American fighters? (It's multiple choice)

        I don't see a poll...

But I'd say Andre Berto has the best shot. I know he fought in the Olympics for Haiti but thats only because he missed his chance on the American team. Behind him I'd have to say James Kirkland, I only put Kirkland second because he seems so unpredictable and he has been dropped before. He is definately going to be a factor because of how spectacularly he fights but I question his longevity...

It's funny because I consider Williams and Dawson the best fighters on that list, yet I could easily see them each losing their next fight. Williams is talking about going up to fight Wright in what will be a close money fight while Dawson could easily lose to Tarver in October. I think without Mayweather, our talent pool is still ok, but our guys have yet to accomplish anything. Hopefully Williams will get his head screwed on straight and stay at 147-154 as long as he can because those are divisions he can rule.

I disagree about Berto. He hasn't shown anything to suggest he could compete with Cotto or Williams. I would be surprised if Berto stepped up his competition before this time next year. He should go after the Judah-Clottey winner, but he won't.
