Roy's right because even though he's definitely deteriorated he should still beat any fighter that Calzaghe has faced even today at his age, except maybe Hopkins.

Roy will be the best Joe has fought. Just not right now.

You can go ahead and put Hopkins on that list as well. Roy would school anyone Calzaghe has faced in his career. Right Now.

OMG!!! Can't believe that ppl still arguing about this1. Yes, I'm European... but stop the hate I'm not a Brit!!! I probably even started to realize about Calzaghe even later then most American Folks do, so I'm not a huge fan or anything... but that fight was clear as ****... 4 Calzaghe. It doesn't matter if you slap some1 around the ring all the time, if you jab him around the ring all the time... these are points. And boxing is about scoring points. Calzaghe won this fight clear and fair. Hopkins landed some shots, and knocked him down once alright and??? If that's enough for you to win a fight, then I don't understand how you ppl can critize Floyd, Winky or whoever.

Another note... Calzaghe maybe is slapping... I never stood in the ring with him, I can't tell... but this slapping was obvisiouly enough to make Bernard Hopkins... go down to his knees... and showing one of the most unsportsmanlike conductions I have ever seen. It's one thing if you hit some1 after the bell... it can happen in the heat of the fight... but to fake a low blow... like he got 2 uppercuts from a Mike Tyson in his balls... is as classess as Hopkins himself. I had a lot respect for him... because he has a good knowledge of the game... but after this... I lost any respect for him. I don't give a **** what he does outside the ring... the only thing I can judge is his in ring behaviour. And he's a shame. Calzaghe won clear with slapping... it was obvisiouly enough for B-Hop!!!

Calzaghe is a good fighter... still don't know why ppl are so hard on him. I wouldn't consider him the best but he has the class to hang in there with every1 throwing his way. With that been said... I think a prime RJJ would have won a Decision against him... but now... I simply don't think that Roy is active enough to beat him... he's going to have to knock him out and I don't know if he still has that left in him.

A point of criticism to the ppl around Calzaghe... he's now fighting in America... he get's exposure... and I don't think he's doing himself a big favour with his opponnents. I understood Hopkins... they both had their belts very long... and and and... but it was clear that Calzaghe was not looking good against Hopkins... nobody does... even the ppl who beat him doesn't look good against him. And now he faces RJJ. Yes, he's a legend and his prime no question about it... but it's going to be now the second opponent that he faces, that will be shown, where he will not look good. RJJ will move also and will make him look very bad with his hand speed... this is going to be second fight in a row where he will look very bad. And that creates an image in the head of ppl who say, well in his prime he could never beaten them... which is not true... Calzaghe is a better fighter then most ppl think... he should have taken Pavlik. Pavlik brings it to him, and Calzaghe loves to fight. I hope he fights him down the road to end his career... and then we will know more about Calzaghe then we now do

Age doesn't change skills, "maņa", and he still is quick and powerful enough to school Calz better than BHop did. RJJR, contrary to BHop, will be more active and beat CALZ. At the least, the Roy that I saw agaisnt Trinidad this year, that version of Roy is going to have fun beating Calz up and badly...
You are correct! In time people will notice. It may need to sink into the minds of the calzaghe fans. But soon they will see, they don't want to as of now. But as time goes on we ALL will notice a not so confident ("IF I WIN") Joe Calzaghe and a hungry ("I'm The Best Calzaghe Has Faced") Roy Jones Jr step in the ring. May the confident, faster, stronger, hungrier man win... Like you said, even the Jones that toyed with old Trinidad will have a blast with Joe Calzaghe....

How can you possibly say this? I simply do not understand the thinking at all. I would say that todays Roy would lose to almost any of Calzaghe's better opponents, down to the likes of Robin Reid. Not sure what I think would happen if he fought Lacy though!
