that is were you are wrong. if he goes crazy and starts going for constant power shots cotto's precision shots will pick him off. he cant afford to go gun ho with a puncher as accurate and as powerfull as cotto.

He needs to use his reach advantage and use that left upper cut of his as cotto leaves himself open for it..


He needs to use controled agression and use a jab because he usualy throw 80-90 punches per round and misses about 2/3rds of them Cotto will punish him if that is the hit ratio for margarito in the fight.

Cotto's in my opinion is a great counter puncher and is quicker and more accurate. that ahould be enough to win it for him.

-margarito has all the physical advantages: height arm length power stamina and chin.

-if cotto wants to box he will have to overcome margaritos 6 inch reach advantage. margarito can still pop cotto with the jab while staying outside of cottos range if he has to.

-if cotto dares to make it a toe to toe war then he it will be to margaritos advantage. margarito is a better inside fighter than cotto. he can unleash vicious uppercuts on the inside and overhand rights.

-cottos chin is suspect and he has never felt this type of power before. if he gets caught once by a big shot the fight is over. margarito has taken big shots from bigger punchers than cotto (cintron and santos) with no affect. margarito can afford to trade with cotto but he has to watch out for cottos left hook to the body which is the only punch that could hurt margarito.

-if the fight goes into the later rounds cotto will be the one resting while margarito will continue to throw 100+ punches a round. margarito could easily steal those rounds in case the fights goes the distance.

-margarito is the hungriest fighter in the welterweight division. this man has been ducked and dodged for so many years and he has been looking for an opportunity to fight an elite fighter on the biggest stage. this chance has finally come and margarito knows that if he loses this fight he will never get another chance like this. he has to win this fight so you know we will see him at his very best.


i just dont see how cotto can win this fight. the only chance i give him is a lucky body shot. margarito is very underrated and i see him as clearly the better fighter overall. the only advantage cotto has is in boxing ability but i think margaritos reach will negate cottos only advantage. margarito will knock cotto out!!

Margarito is hungry because he has no regard for food. On a serious note Cotto can get in and out of range before Margarito throws 2 jabs. Note Margarito only hits once every 3 jabs or so... very very frustrating night for Margarito. I see him going after Cotto but Cotto winning all the exchanges.

your telling me 29 year old barrera was past his prime?? what a joke. and williams is a much tougher fight than cotto because williams actually has a good chin good stamina and size to match up with margarito. and margarito only lost a close fight to williams because he started way to slow.

this fight will be a coming out party for margarito because i guarantee margarito is going to knock cotto out. i see this fight ending like the first pavlik-taylor fight and margarito will be like pavlik landing the big power shots.
