He's chosen because he doesn't have a lot of power, but he's durable enough to last for a lot of rounds. He has a decent record on paper, but he's not a real threat.

    He's the perfect "stay-active" opponent.

I guess that makes sense since Povetkin is going to fight Wlad later on down the line.

I see the potential in Povetkin but IMHO I seriously think he isnt ready for Wlad anytime soon...When I was watching the Chambers\ Povetkin fight I saw his talents and I saw his weaknesses...He gets hit to much and he will get brutally beat down if he was to fight Wlad like he fought Chambers...He was landing some good shots on Chambers but Chambers was landing on him also...If Wlad hit him like that...He's gone nighty night (LOL) He needs to correct that problem before he gets in the ring with Wlad because Wlad is not that type of guy you want to get hit by at will.

I couldn't agree with you more, Ray Jr. I don't understand the rationale behind pushing Povetkin into a title shot prematurely. Klitschko is in his prime and is capable of dishing out a vicious beating to him. On the other hand, when a fighter gets a shot at the title, he should seize the moment and take it...

Yeah, because the guy that looks most muscular and ripped always wins the fight, right?

when somebody gets paid to box, i expect him to be in good shape.
he doesn't have to look like a bodybuilder but at least come in shape.

I'd agree that a boxer should come in shape and Povetkin does. It would be different if he stopped punching but that dude throws 60 to 70 shots a round even in the late rounds.
Maybe he just doesn't have the body type to look great.
He doesn't seem to take as many rounds off as other heavys do.

Povetkin will easily beat Skyes, but he's gonna get his ass whooped by Wlad.
