what other welters has cotto fought, other than quintana and gomez, that didint start their career at a lower division? Quintana is also not a big puncher by any means. I never said it was his first fight at welterweight, its his first REAL fight with a REAL welterweight.

Williams was his height, could match his workrate as well as provided straight punching that offset margaritos attack, even when margarito stepped it up, in the 12th williams stuck with his gameplan and still did what he needed to do, in the rematch it would be more of the same.

With cotto he has a better chance only because cotto goes through these defensive lapses where he gets nailed with wide shots, this is also cottos first real fight with a real welterweight. I dont think cotto is some devastating puncher and neither is margarito, but the thing is i dont know how cotto will stand up to the work rate if margarito doesnt respect his power. I'm glad that Margarito showed a lot of class in that interview. There was really no trash talking, and hasn't been from either fighter. I hope it ends up an amazing contest so they have a rematch or two. If it's good enough, who gets the "L" won't be that big of a deal, much like the Federer vs. Nadal Wimbledon final.

Both guys are essentially giving Mayweather the finger by choosing to fight the best, show respect for each other, and display focus and class unparalleled in this day and age.

Good post. I could care less who wins. Margs can't take body shots, Cotto gets caught clean. When it comes to big fights like this, usually guys clean up their bad habits by fight time so I expect a great fight. The smarter fighter usually wins 95% of the time. Cotto is the smarter fighter.
