as for pavlik it shows that maybe a calzaghe fight will be alot closer than people think

It is a no win situation for Kelly. It will be put down as a win over a shot fighter or a terrible loss to a has-been.

It is a massive win for Bernard if he was to manage it. I doubt he will though.

It'd be a pretty big win for Hopkins, he would have beaten the man who beat the man who beat him and he would have beaten the consensus number 1 middleweight in the world, but there will be people who will say he beat a middleweight who shouldn't have been fighting at 170.

I'm not sure if it would mean too much for Pavlik because he has already beaten Taylor who has beaten Hopkins and some people will say he beat an old man but it would help build interest in a Calzaghe-Pavlik fight somewhere down the line if he wins more impressively than Calzaghe did.

If Hop wins, it means a few things. First, Calzaghes stock goes up as it would proove Hopkins is not shot (Which he isn't, he is past it but is still a good fighter) and would show that Pavlik is not as good as some thought.

If Pavlik wins. I hate to say, he won't get a lot. The win would be written off as a win over a past prime fighter as Calzaghes win was by some.

If Kelly wins, we also may be a step closer to Pavlik-Calzaghe.!

Let's see how Kelly looks at 170 first. I wasn't too impressed by his performance at 166.

I agree that it would mean more for Hopkins stock than Kellys but is BHop ever going to get legitimate title shots again, his era is OVER now. For as great as he was its time to look beyond.
Im not saying that Kelly Pavlik is the future but he is the man NOW and by beating Hopkins he just proves the point T97 made about beating a past prime fighter.
If i were Kelly's advisors i would steer clear of fights that yes would bring him $$$$ and small koudos for beating a past prime fighter and look to unify and step up a weight to do the same, building himself a legacy like people in the mould of Hopkins and Calzaghe already have. IMO he is too good a fighter to be a potential notch on a fading stars resume.
