In any case that makes his performance that more commedable.
It happened in his training camp, he knew the opportunity might not come again so he went through with the fight.

    From maxboxing.

Six days before the fight with Norton, Holmes suffered torn tissues in his left bicep when he and a sparring partner hit elbows. Thanks to a series of treatments, the arm was functional by the time he stepped between the ropes and he used his rapier jab to build an early lead.

After his comeback you have to rank the Mercer-win high as well. A great emotional win.

Boxingprospect: I didn't know Holmes was injured in the Norton fight. Can you please elaborate?
battheman, bascially what silencers said. Holmes had torn his left bicep, but went on anyway, the championship was at stake. the camp was really concerned because it was larry's best weapon, the jab.

holmes years later said that as the fight progressed he just got with the flow.

interstingly enough, holmes also had a flu against tim witherspoon. he was throwing up in his locker room, but went on to fight anyway. he was a swell guy.

        Ok. Thank you and silencers.

Of course Holmes is known to be sick occasionally..........

          No problem.

Holmes also fought the Holyfield fight with a detached retina, he was using contacts to help him see but Holyfield knocked it out in the first round, he said that's why he stayed on the ropes so much in that fight.

Close between Cooney and Norton, with the Norton win having a slighter significant edge.
