Wow, I hope he retires because it's not very smart to come back to boxing after this. I'm sure his license will be suspended by the commissions, or at least I hope they'd do this (like they did to Valero and Mesi).

Sorry if I scared you guys.

Natas my bad on not getting the article.

I have MyESPN set to send me texts on boxing news.

It just said, "Diaz in critical condition after surgery to reduce brain swelling"

Lets just hope he continues to get better.
Oscar came through surgery well," Ron Katz of Rodriguez promoter Star Boxing told ESPN.com after talking to Donna Duva Brooks of Hall of Fame Promotions, Diaz's promoter, who was at the hospital.

"They had to remove the left side of his cranium in order to help the swelling go down, which apparently was very bad," Katz said. "He had a subdural hematoma [bleeding on the brain], which was taken care of. During surgery, he apparently showed movement in his arms and his brain pressure was very good, according to the doctor."

Diaz was under heavy sedation following the operation, but was not in a medically induced coma, Katz said.

Under he is actually revived, Diaz's condition has to be considered very critical and life threatening. Probably the best case scenario would be similar to that guy who fought Darchinyan and eventually recovered, although this one may be better because they haven't had to induce a comma.

critical care is a very general term, anyone coming out of surgical goes directly to critical care. I think this is very good news.

Actually, this sounds a little more serious. Boxing is out of the question for Diaz. They had to remove part of his brain.

At this point lets just hope that he recovers and can lead a fairly normal happy life.

And who knows how Rodriguez will take this, might be the end for him too. Knowing you almost ended someones life probably makes it difficult to step into the ring again.

They had to remove the left side of his skull, not his brain. Cranium is the medical term skull. The skull can be subdivided into two parts: the cranium and the mandible.

That is correct, but there is no doubt that Diaz's career as a boxer is 100% over.

Ahh, well, either way I think he will not return to boxing. They said he took a lot of punches from Golden Johnson and wondered how much he had left. And after this fight it looks to be answered that no matter how much he recovers he should not be allowed in the ring again. Respect to Diaz for his career, but I'd rather see someone call it quits with a situation like this than trying to get back into the ring and getting killed.
