It seemed the bleeding was stopped pretty easily and there was no swelling to speak of. I certainly dont believe Rahman's assertion that his vision was still blurred as he sat in the corner.

The cut wasn't that big but it was very deep and the fight couldn't have gone on much longer. I've never seen anything quite like this. Usually the doctor just makes medical observations and the referee determines whether the fighter is willing to go on or not. He didn't make himself enough of a part of the situation. But to me it comes down to the cut being bad and clearly caused by a butt. After only three rounds the fight should have been thrown out. I was shocked they gave it to Toney and think Rahman's allegation about Goossen being the house promoter is legitimate.

But usually the fighter isn't complaining about not being able to see in the middle of a round either...Or saying his vision was still blurry... It clearly was a bad decision by the ref, but I guess I'm just more disappointed in Rahman's lack of heart...

I have no doubt Goosen played a big part in that decision...

Never said it shouldnt have been a no contest my excitable little friend. I said I saw where they were coming from. The doctor didnt stop the fight because of the cut. Rahman said he couldnt see hence he couldnt continue. The cut wasnt serious enough to force a stoppage.

there are plenty of examples of guys fighting on with worse cuts.

Yes like I said Im not arguing against a No Contest but the doctor did deem after the fight that the cut not serious enough for a stoppage. Rahman was complaining he couldnt see when they wasnt even any blood dripping from the cut. The doctor made a judgement based on what Rahman was saying before making a decision on the cut.

It probably shouldve been an NC but I can see how they came to that decision.

That was a much worse cut in my opinion. And Toney went out and KOed him in the next round. I think Rahman couldve given it a round or two. The bleeding seem to have stopped.
