He didn't want to drop the belt. That's the whole point. His hand was forced no matter how you want to spin it. Margarito was not going to fight Williams until he was threatened of being stripped. So you're calling it like you want to see it instead of what really happened.Comment

Williams priced him self out originally ( so they waited and let it go to purse bids) ...FACT...so in the meantine Margarito went and fought Clottey..

I'm a Floyd Mayweather fan, i like him, i will still like him and i think he was the best modern fighter and the best i've ever seen lace them up buti must agree the division is even hotter now, less hate, more good fights and i just hope it will never turn into what the heavies have or the cruiserweights for that matter with fake champions making fake mandatory defenses against guys who don't stand a chance going into the fight with little to no excitement. I hope the talent keeps coming and no young good fighter is denied the spotlight because an old **** wants more of it and uses his connections to find dates for his fights who aren't meaningful at all since they will not remain in the game. I start to see this happening at WW too on a still small scale. Paul Williams is a young HOT HOT star who just couldn't find a fight as is reportedly forced to move up 2 weight classes just to get a ****ing ppv. Oscar is a 35 year old who already has a HBO date and doesn't even have an opponent.
Shane Mosley, Oscar de la Hoya, Bernard Hopkins, Tarver, Forrest, Calzaghe, Wladimir Klitschko, just to mention a few , are all fighters who are not contributing for the sport of boxing, but to it's downfall by fighting meaningless fights while fighters like Paul Williams and David Haye are denied chances, and often fight just once a year, as young men.
Say what you want about Floyd Mayweather, at least he had the decency to retire and open up space for new talent instead of fighting Oscar again. And he was being pressed to take that fight, he clearly didn't want it.Comment
