"Ducking" has to be clearly defined.
Ray Leonard didn't fight Aaron Pryor, but they were in different weight classes anyway. Ray Robinson never fought Cocoa Kid and Charley Burley (asking for a lot of money against the latter)....
Roberto Duran's team (mainly Carlos Eleta) steered him away from certain matchups, but by most accounts, Duran was willing to fight anyone, he just didn't have too much say in whom he fought.
No one in their right minds would say Duran, SRL, or SRR didn't fight elite opposition overall and have tremendous accomplishments however. The whole thing with "ducking" is very difficult to gauge because we don't truly know what goes on behind closed doors.
