Travis Walker is a disgrace: look who he's fighting!

Travis Walker (27-1-1) is supposedly one of the best up-and-coming American heavyweights. He's scheduled to fight John Dixon on Saturday.

Dixon has a record of 5 wins and 30 losses. He has lost eight of his past nine fights, and he's lost 23 of his past 25 fights!!

Dixon has been KOed in each of his past four fights, and he is age 42.

Dixon has the biggest belly I've ever seen in a pro boxer! He makes Toney look skinny by comparison...

Why is Travis Walker (BoxRec #34 heavyweight) fighting someone like this? What's wrong with American heavyweights these days?

I don't know if he has a choice. His promoter sets it up and he agrees because it's any easy day at the office.

I mean how many people go to work every single day and say oh I want a really hard challenge. Screw that.

Just a stay busy fight. And if you think about it, it doesn't really help him get his name out there. It's just a nice easy fight that he can perhaps win by dramatic ko.

I agree with that. Maybe they have their reasons.
Reason 1 being, maybe he's just not that good and is waiting for the cash out fight.

or maybe every other heavyweight is too scared to fight him ie-- arreola, who he called out, or maybe peters, who he also has called out numerous times. i'm sure he doesn't want to fight this bum but he has to fight someone. And lets not forget he is the interim nabf champ which was supposed to guarantee a fight with rahman which rahman declined.
