Do you think he has the resume to back it up though?

I am a pretty big Kessler fan, have been ever since I saw him out here against Mundine. I just don't think wins over Mundine, Beyer, Andrade and the like are enough to get him up that high. He has looked very impressive in those wins I am just not sure he has the accomplishments to warrant being top 15 p4p at the moment.

Obviously I do. I made a thread comparing the resumée's of Pavlik and Kessler. My opinion is that if Pavlik deserves a top 10 ranking Kessler aint far behind.

      I'll bump it.

Fair enough. I just think sometimes it is easy to get over-excited over the impressive nature of Kessler's wins rather than analysing the level of competition he has actually managed to beat.

I guess the level of competition speaks for itself in my opening post of the thread.

Yeah no worries, it is just a matter of opinion of how highly you rate those guys Mikkel has beaten I guess. I don't rate Siaca, Lucas, Andrade or Beyer very highly, he lost to Joe and Mundine is a very good but not great win.

I am not saying Kelly's resume is unbelievable either mind, but I would say back to back wins over Taylor is far superior to a win over Mundine, which is the best name on Kessler's resume.

Fair enough. I dont know which fight on Kessler's resumée is the best, but there are no freebees among them for sure.

What's worth considering when you look at Kessler's resumée is that the Mundine fight not only was a decisive win but also a win in which Kessler was injured in his back and it was in Mundine's back-yard.

Same with the Calzaghe fight. Kessler had no sparring in the 2-3 weeks in the lead-up to the fight and he fought competitively against the p4p no. 2 in his back-yard with a BROKEN HAND!

I am not questioning Kessler's toughness, ability or impressiveness. I just can't place him in the top 15 in the entire sport p4p on the back of wins over some tough but not overly strong guys and an admirable defeat to an elite fighter.

There is no doubt people make the exact same mistake with Pavlik as they do with Kessler. However, I do believe that Pavlik deserves to be in the top 15 and probably the top 10 (I could live with him being anywhere between 8 and 10 in there) purely on the back of those 2 wins over Taylor.
