    Close fight.

I'm not sure who is the physically stronger of the two, I said Kessler but I'm guessing. Whoever can push the other guy backwards more consitantly wins.

To play devil's advocate to my earlier post saying Pavlik would probably win...

The one fantastic thing Kessler has going for him is that he's got a blueprint for victory courtesy of Taylor/Pavlik II. We saw that you don't necessarily NEED to fight on the inside to beat Pavlik... as several have mentioned.

Jermain showed that with good lateral movement, Pavlik's straightforward style can be easily countered and he can be outboxed using angles, footwork, and superior handspeed. If Taylor had the stamina to let his hands go for more than six rounds he would have destroyed Pavlik in that fight. If Kessler were to adpot the same gameplan, didn't get frustrated, and fought consistently for 12 rounds, he would give Kelly fits. But I doubt Kessler's ever had to fight anyone that hard.

Who has Kessler beaten and who has Pavlik beaten? It shows you the class different between these fighters. Mundine or Taylor who is the better fighter???

            **** resumes they mean nothing!

You cant judge a fight on who has the better resume. Using that logic we'd have had Berbik beating Tyson.

I look at two fighters in the ring and judge there ability on that, not who they fought.

I dont doubt for a second they are on course to meet in the next 2 or 3 years and im wondering who everyone likes when they fight.

With Pavlik we have a fighter who loves to mix it up with underated skills. His jab is very good and his right hand has a lot of power behind it. Pavlik likes to throw a lot of punches and has excellant stamina. There is somewhat of a question mark over his chin though. Ive seen him fight 7 or 8 times and he's been down in 4 of those fights and in two of those he's been hurt pretty bad.

With Kessler we have a fighter with no real weakness except mobility maybe (i think he's pretty mobile but ive heard people in the past claim otherwise, fair enough) Kessler has an excellant jab and his straight right hand is a thing of beuty, his right upercut is pretty devastating too (god knows how Calzaghe took that bomb in the 4th). Its been said in the past that Kessler has never tasted the canvas in his AM or pro career so its safe to say he has a pretty solid chin. Would it hold it to Pavliks power though (would Pavliks hold up to Kesslers?)

I agree with this. Resume comparison gets far too much play on here as the be all and end-all. It can certainly show us who had the better career and who has beaten the more impressive fighters, but alone it shows nothing about how good a boxer actually is.

Besides this, Pavlik's resume is not light years better than Kessler's, the only fighter you can make a case for being better than Kessler's best wins is Taylor and whether even he is really that good is extremely debateable.

Listening to you, no one could ever possibly believe that Taylor was at one time the linear world middleweight champion who was as high as #6 on The Ring's p4p list. I mean, you make it sound like he's Jeff Lacy or something.

Mark my words, Taylor will BEAT Kessler if they ever fight.

If Pavlik faces AA and Kessler, I'd probably bet on him having his first loss.
