But it also pushes your rival to step it's game up in order to stay on a level playing field.
why does showtime and hbo always schedule bouts on the same day?

Because, even for casinos it's best to have fights on Saturday... just makes more sense....it would be good though if one was after the other.....they don't BOTH have to be at 11o'clock at nightComment

I dont agree with how they do that...
I dont have shotime anymore so i dont have a choice as to which one i will watch...i will be watching HBO...and come online and watch videos of the fights on SHO that i missed.
But its crazy to be honest.
If they did do alternating saturdays and SHARED the fans they would be maximizing profits ALL THE TIME...because on one saturday ALL (well not ALL but you know what i mean) boxing fans tune into say HBO...then next saturday ALL boxing fans tune into SHO...and on and on...
When they do it like this they have compete and it hurts both networks...
it irritates me (well it did when i had SHO) but if these guys make huge salarys and cant make decent decisions they should hire members of boxingscene who would do a better job as far as i can tell.
smart posters here...i love this forum...Comment

It actually works out for me. I live in California and with DirectTV and all the channels I have (HBO, HBO2, HBOW, HBO2W, SHO, SHO2, SHOW) I can actually watch one right after the other. For example I saw Margarito/Cintron and Cotto/Gomez on HBO from 7-9 and then Dawson/Johnson and Tarver/Woods from 9-11 on Showtime. It was like a free pay-per-view. Even though I left about 4 rounds into the Tarver fight because it was putting me to sleep.Comment

Same here. People with DVR's don't really sweat it. But it is annoying if there are NO fights on the following Saturday.Comment
