Why is the Cotto Margarito fight not for the IBF title aswell?

Did the IBF not sanction it???? or did margarito just relinquish it?

Surley Cotto is ranked pretty high with IBF if he beat Judah and they are giving him a shot at it.

Mandatory was overdue.. so he got stripped for agreeing to fight cotto.
Marg was a voluntary defense for Kermit

wasnt there some news for a deadline for him to agree to fight someone and then he vacated?

The IBF wanted him to fight his mandatory which was Clottey because Cintron, instead of facing Clottey made a voluntary defense in his rematch against Margarito.

Yeah..........the whole situation was a deja vu' of the situation a year ago. A year ago PWilliams was the mandatory and Margarito decided to protect his belt then go for Cotto. This time he's like **** that, I'll go after the better fighter with the bigger payday.

Yeah, I think PWilliams got into Margarito's head though and made Margarito make an illogical career choice. PWilliams was talking that he hurt Marg while sparring and that Marg feared him. I think that **** worked in making Marg fight him (lesser known name, lesser regarded in division and less money) instead of Cotto.

I think its probably because margarito having been given that title of "most feared man" basically he probably wanted to live up to it, then when it came down to a buisness desicion that would have worked out in his favor, he in some ways probably wanted to live up to the persona he had built for himself taking all comers.

For the most part i think he didint want to be hypocrtical but margarito shouldnt have even cared about that, at this point, im sure he doesnt. This fight could make all those years of top guys not wanting to give him a shot (mosley/wright/mayweather/judah) at WW pay off.

Still, its not like the fight was in indonesia for 30k.
