The term boxer-puncher has problems with it.

I think it is a way you fight, rather than being slick with power.

I wouldn't classify Casamayor, Tarver or the pre-surgery Forrest boxer-punchers, but...

Morales, post-surgery Forrest (a la Baldomir) and JM Marquez all can be considered boxer-punchers.

I'm not sure if I would. He was more like a straight up slugger.

The way he kind of stood still with the strange catching gestures and when he'd catch a punch he'd return in with a good right.
I'd consider Louis more of a methodical stalker. He was always looking for the KO.

I think the main criteria for being a boxer puncher is a jab.

That's kind of like the starting point.

          Methodical Stalker, I like that.

That's perfect for what he was. lol not a brawler or slugger.

The main criteria of a slick boxer is jab too. Cory Spinks lives and dies by his jab, but no one has EVER accused him of being a boxer-puncher.

Never seen Louis, but methodical stalker sounds a lot like Diego Corrales IMO.

I'd call Chico more of a brawler.

He'd let himself get hit in the chin so that he could just wait to throw a counter left hook. lol that was the staple of his fight game.

He was methodical in how he never stopped coming, definitely.

But I think his lack of defense disqualifies him from the "methodical" category..........I mean Joe Louis had a hell of a damn defense.

He was chinny but he'd block punches with his hands.

Well yeah but the jab is a necessity! That's all I was referring to.

If someone is a boxer puncher, they must have a jab.

Or else they're a mobile slugger. Like Sugar Ray Robinson.

So are Winky and Glen Johnson stalkers?

I've never been able to classify those guys to be honest, but that seems to fight the description.

                    For damn sure.

And I'd say Scott called up a great category there. lol when was the last time you heard someone being referred to as a "stalker".

Joe Louis was Winky Wright with Power and a shakier defense.

Seriously? The last time I heard stalker, someone said that Corrales was stalking Mayweather when they fought.

But yeah, I think the no defense power puncher is probably more of a slugger than stalker.
